We were visiting Franconia Notch State Park. We wanted to hike the Flume Gorge, but the mob that morning was so huge we couldn't even find a parking place. So we moved on to other areas which most of the crowd had overlooked. The Basin is a nice walk, and if you have the time, you can actually take a paved trail all the way to see the spot where The Old Man of the Mountain used to be - it's a long walk, though.

I liked that basin. As we were heading to it, we saw a river flowing swiftly.

The basin has a waterfall and its water is green. It's truly a basin in all its beauty!.

Some of the water followed the river.

I enjoyed the beauty of this basin. It is free as well. It's a must see! Wow!

Being a certified city girl, my daughter and I visited the Basin at Franconia Notch State Park this past week. While the weather was 14 degrees we bundled up nicely and made the trek. So glad I did! Amazing!!

This is right off the highway and an easy walk to the natural pool of "The Basin." The path to the Basin is paved and there is even a viewing point for handicapped people. Really glad that we stopped and took time to walk to this beautiful, natural spot.
