This place truly embodies the term hidden gem. In a small old farm house off the beaten path but every small plate is exceptional. Great spinach salad with chevre, candied pecans and craisins, nice spicy crispy calamari, great small crispy crab cakes and absolutely exceptional stuffed dates. If you are in the lakes region this place is worth the drive

What a wonderful evening we had at Tavern 27, on route 106 in Laconia . We started with a refreshing cocktail ... Riesling for her, and a recommended beer for me! Promptly served... with a smile...we ordered a starter salad... Caesar ... it was delicious, we had crab cakes next... crispy, a little spicy... heaven! Haddock bites, and Tavern fries finished our evening ... each course a little better than the last ... great food ... a lovely lady to share it with , made my evening there perfect! Make reservations... this place fills up fast!

Tavern27 has become so popular that reservations are a requirement. But it is well worth the planning. And if you are willing to go at a non-peak time, you might be able to pop in or just call before. The food is unique, creative and incredibly delicious...at very reasonable prices. The restaurant is beautiful, in an old house with lots of wood, character, and ambiance. Perfect for a celebration or a relaxing meal out. We live in the Lakes Region and Tavern27 is our favorite. It has become the favorite of all of our friends and relatives - they ask to go there when they visit us. We are lucky to have Ray and Leslie offering us such a perfect experience, every time we go.

We went here for a celebratory lunch.

When we got there, despite the fact that the day was mild (about 73 degrees), we were seated directly in front of the air conditioner, which was running the entire time we were there (no real climate control?).

I was ordering a steak roulade, which looked good. Then the waitress said that 'just so you know, this comes well-done'. Assuming that if we have a well-done option that there would also be a medium rare/rare option, I asked for that. She told me 'oh, it's too thin for anything else'.

I declined to order anything, all the while thinking: if there is only well-done, then why voice that like it's an option? Either 1. The cook can't control the temperature on the grill/in the pan to lightly brown the outsides of the meat. or 2. The meat really is that thin, in which case 'well-done' isn't really a thing.

My point is this, as a customer service specialist, why would you make a statement that implies an option that doesn't exist?

This might seem nit-picky, but when you are charging high prices ($30 for a steak), then you need to not make stupid little mistakes.
