Great place to stay with my family and children . Lots of activities near by . House had everything that was needed including toys to entertain the little ones .
The location of this house is awesome, very cozy and clean and spacious! Had so much fun here, what a great weekend!
We stayed in December of 2019 and really enjoyed our experience. The home is very cozy and warm and has all the sleeping space and amenities you will need for a great stay including a pool table and ping pong table in the downstairs entertainment room. The property is beautiful and you are a close drive to all North Conway and surrounding areas have to offer. We will definitely be rebooking.
We rent at least three times a year up north. This place from the outside is just average but inside were a largescreen tv, fast internet, cool AC, a game room for the kids and a whole bunkroom where the kids did their thing. This has been the best family equipped stay, there was even a highchair and playpen. Had some teouble getting inside and the owner was very responsible and answered my call on the spot. I highly reccomend and we are booked again for the fall.
Having never been to the White Mountains, what made me select this vacation spot of a dozen choices was, of course, the pictures which make the place look light, bright, fresh, and new. The pictures must have been taken by a professional photographer for a realtor. Nestled in a beautifully wooded area, there is naturally a lot of tree cover. As a result, the inside of the home was quite dark. The wood on the ceiling is very dark (not the warm color pictured). The place was clean with lots of homey touches, but bring slippers, because the wood floor felt sort of "tacky". Maybe it was the heat and humidity of July. Even with lots of lights on, the inside still felt so dark! For summer rentals, know that the unit is air conditioned with window units, with the one in the upstairs "master" bedroom not providing sufficient cooling; the second upstairs bedroom has no window unit at all. The downstairs bedroom with the bunk beds and the living room had window units that cooled things nicely.
There was plenty of kitchen/eating supplies to include appliances and pots, and pans (though of an aluminum sort and Teflon). If you're choosy about what you cook in, bring your own (I did). The bi-fold closet doors are, shall we say, "fragile", so use care in opening them. Pictured in the dining area is an arched, glass wall which looked awesome. However, due to the tree cover, etc. much of the glass was cloudy, greenish, and in one spot, there was water between the double panes. The wood floor on the one end of the dining room was very warped - like in a wave pattern with a variance of about 3 inches up and down; the other side of the dining area was fine.
All the appliances, air conditioners, and even the refrigerator were OFF when we arrived, which could have been a problem because I brought two coolers full of food I had made at home and had covered the food in ice. Thank God for lots of ice because it took several hours for the refrigerator to become sufficiently cool to put my food, etc. in there. However, once cool, everything in that regard was fine. Looked like a new fridge/freezer with ice maker, etc. in the door. The gas stove was great, too!
The biggest issue for me was the fact that, when we arrived, there were good-sized flying ants and carpenter ants inside. We called the owner who told us the folks who manage his property spray for ants/bugs twice monthly and had just been there to spray so the ants were "coming out" and dying off. We were there from Thursday evening until Monday morning. While the number of flying ants did diminish greatly in 24 hours, we were still killing carpenter ants in the kitchen and (only) bathroom up until we left. One or two here and there. I'm sure this would be a non-issue during a winter stay. For what it's worth, there is wi-fi there, but we found only a certain number of devices could "get on" the network at any given time. (Though we are not big TV watchers, had we wanted to, we would have had to buy batteries for the remote.)
I actually did not go downstairs where the game tables are, so I can't say anything about that. Also, if you bring children, make sure their feet are shod before running on the deck as the stain is flaking, and one could get splinters if going barefoot. Sitting on the deck was quite lovely and relaxing (bring or make some mosquito repellent).
The area in which the unit was located was GREAT! It was sooo beautiful there in July. Very quiet as well. It's a great location for accessibility to hiking, being on the river, exploring, and adventuring. If you choose this unit, just adjust your expectations down a bit (from the pictures), and you will enjoy your stay just fine. It's an older place, but we still had a good time.
