“Great kayaking trip”
Review of Paddle the Pemi

Paddle the Pemi
Reviewed 7 August 2014 via mobile

We had five adults and one teenager in our group. Check in was fast, efficient and friendly. We rode upriver about six miles for the easiest of the three kayaking trips. The driver helped all of us get our kayaks in the water and off we went. Beautiful scenery and lots of twists and turns. Class one rapids were fun and not too challenging for beginners. Only problem was the river was a little low in places and we had to get out and walk a little ways. Great way to spend half a day.

We "Paddled the Pemi" with Ski Fanatics on August 14. It was a beautiful sunny day and it was a great trip. The staff at Ski Fanatics was professional and very nice. The Pemi is a very nice river, and the water level was great (they told me that the river is much higher than it usually is this time of year, which is good for paddling). It was cool and the water was a little chilly, so we didn't swim, though there were some good spots for swimming. There were very few people on the river, which made it a great experience. We've paddled on the Saco River before, but the Pemi is nicer. It is generally fast-moving, with some small rapids (we took the class1 trip from Robbins Nest Rd), and the water is crystal clear. Although you're close to roads, you don't generally see them, and the scenery is nice throughout the trip.

Just spent a week in the lower part of the White Mtns, NH - Plymouth, Holderness, Ashland.

While i was mostly looking to play some golf, my two sons aged 18 and 20 wanted to do some outdoor stuff.

We found Paddle the Pemi, offered theu Ski Fanatics in Campton NH.

Nice friendly staff, who re-assured the chicken non-swimmer in me.....

We visited in late June 2013, and it has not been particularly hot nor sunny..... So i wasn't sure what it would be like....

It was a lot of fun, never felt worried, or in danger.... The river is quite shallow in most places, and only swift moving in a few spots. You actually had to stay alert, so as to avoid thw rocks in many areas... Nothing dangerous, but the bottom of the kayak scrapes, and you could get stuck.....

We were actually lucky, in that with the recent spate of rain, the water level was pretty high, .....

We reached a train trestle bridge, and the boys actually go on shore climbed the bridge, and jumped into the river...... I normally wouldn't have allowed it, but a few other teens had been jumping and it looked quite safe.....

It lasted about 3.5 hours with a good nit of paddling, nothing crazy, hut steady.

Definitely worth it for a half day activity.
