Nice clean hotel. Lobby is great. Breakfast was good. No bar or restaurant on site. Fire alarm went off few times, I guess is a false. Hot tub water was cold and pool area are cold. Water in the pool was cold. Love the location near some great bars and restaurants. Would stay there if the pool, hot tub temp is fixed.
We checked in at 3. When we first got there we went to our room and our room wasn’t cleaned from the previous guests. Disgusted, we went to the lobby and told the front desk it was still dirty. They had us wait in the lobby while they cleaned it. We waited and waited and didn’t hear anything. At this point it was 3:45 and we had to leave to go to the ice castles so we had to change in our vehicle and go. Before we left we told the desk we’d be back and we hoped our room would be cleaned and they said it definitely would. We come back at 6:30 and it still wasn’t available. They gave our original room away we later learned. They just pushed us aside not telling us what was going on but continued to give each new guest a room. We didn’t get a room until 8pm. And that was ONLY because another older couple heard we’ve been waiting for our room since 3 when we checked in so they gave us theirs. Horrible customer service. Do not go.
This hotel was nice, but I definitely wouldn’t consider it “luxury”. We are not picky people whatsoever, so it definitely met our needs for a 2 night stay. However, everything about this hotel was LOUD. The people in the hallways were loud, the people upstairs were loud at all hours of the night and day, there was some kind of work being done in our hallway before 8am which woke us up pretty abruptly. It was just... annoying. I figured being up in the mountains, it would be nice and relaxing and quiet but I was wrong. Other than that, this hotel was nice. The floors were definitely not the cleanest but I guess that’s just what happens in winter!
Our stay at the Arlington Hotel was... inconsistent. Before staying here, we wondered why some reviewers glowed about the hotel, while others were extremely disappointed. We can now see why folks wrote both types of reviews.
The positives - the hotel seems nicely designed, with large, quiet rooms (we didn't hear any sounds from the room next door, even though we could hear them when in the hallway). The heated pool and the outdoor hot tub, plus the kids playroom in the basement were nice amenities that our kids really enjoyed. And, the location worked well-enough as a home base for trips to Bretton Woods for skiing.
Needs improvement - general upkeep. Upon arrival, we noted some bits of stool in the toilet bowl, and requested a re-cleaning. The housekeeping staff seemed somewhat overwhelmed that night, and the person who came to clean the toilet bowl also wiped it down with a soiled rag, and then proceeded to wipe the toilet seat with the same rag. Based on our observations of different hairs on the bathroom sink, we couldn't be sure if the sink had been similarly wiped.
Also, the ceiling had clear watermarks and stains where there must have been a leak. The pillows were very thick and firm (not a positive) such that our heads were pushed up at an uncomfortable angle. And, we weren't sure if the sheets on one of the beds had been changed, as we found human hairs of various colors on the sheets. During our stay, the hotel fire alarm system was also set off, and resulted in a lobby covered in water. We never found out what happened, as there was no follow-up announcement or information provided. Finally, prior guests seemed to have poor respect for the hotel, as almost all signs in the hotel had at least a few letters scratched off (take a guess what someone would scratch off from 'Pool').
Overall, we would avoid returning to this hotel.
I was pleasantly surprised at the decor and look of the hotel. This was an overnight stay due to the proximity it was to the ice castles. Upon arrival the parking lot was not cleared from the storm the day prior. I am disabled and slipped on the heaped ice in the handicapped parking spot. The only area that looked as though it might have been shoveled was the area directly in front of the main door, not even the side walk was cleared. The room was very spacious but did feel as though it was lacking due to the size.
I was very disappointed to find out that the restaurant was being renovated and that the bar is only open on the weekends. This is something that should be explained on the website, guests should be informed without having to ask.
The pool and hot tub were very hard to find, access was only available through the locker rooms, even though there is a regular enterance, it is locked, strange. The front desk was nice enough to let us use these facilities past the normal close time of 8pm, in my opinion that is way to early to close them. The indoor hot tub was broken but the out door hot tub was very nice.
The included breakfast was nice with a good selection.
Since the hotel was practically empty due to it being mid-week, they let us check out late.
Overall we were very happy with our stay. A little attention to detail and it could have been a stellar experience.
We had a great stay at the Arlington Hotel! The rooms were clean. The kids enjoyed the pool and outdoor hot tub. They also loved the rec room and gym. Breakfast was satisfying. Definitely would stay again.
