We stayed with kids for 2 nights on the way home from Utah. I read reviews on it before coming so we kind of knew what to expect.
Pros: not a bad room, considering it’s only $30/night, so even with a $10 parking and $30 resort fee, it’s still not expensive. Royal Tower rooms are updated, and even had a small couch, nice seating area. No fridge or microwave is a downside of course, but we knew about it. There is no view on the Royal side- didn’t bother us either. Tram is convenient to Luxor and Mandalay Bay, so easy access to Shark Reef and Titanic exhibition that we visited. It’s also very close to NYNY and MGM. Pool was nice and we enjoyed it for a few hours with kids. Pool is far from Royal Tower, so for those who are looking to use it a lot, I recommend staying at the Resort Tower. Arcade for kids was really nice and we spent a few hours there too, wasting a lot of money obviously but kids had fun.
Cons: no bath tubs! It was a challenge with kids for sure! No fridge is inconvenient. Lots of money wasted on eating out. Buffet sucks! Eat somewhere else, they have lots of other options at food court and outside of hotel. Most importantly- smoke. It’s really bad that everywhere you go, you need to cross the casino. I understand it’s Vegas, but since Excalibur is geared toward families with kids, it would be nice to have walkways to bypass the casino to get to restaurants, stores and arcade. People even smoked by family pool, smoked by restaurants. I wish security would enforce it somehow.
Overall, it was a nice stay, but with kids, I would recommend staying somewhere else like timeshare properties or no casino hotels nearby.

Room bed are uncomfortable, woman at the car rental was very nasty, not enough room in the pool for all the people staying there, long walks from the elevator, location isn’t bad if you want to be close but not too close to the strip

Telephone fees not posted: $29 connection, $3-4/min per call. Highway robbery. They never announced the fees when you placed the calls, nor are the ridiculous rates posted anywhere visible in the dated rooms.

Rooms were comfy and clean, nice strip view from the resort tower. Rooms were a bit dated. No shower bar in shower, water drained slow and backed up on the last day. Exhaust fan worked slow. Towels could've been bigger and more plush.

We stayed at Excalibur as a place to begin a Spring break tween vacation. We used it as a place to get to some age appropriate shows, water viewing events, Circus Circus amusement rides, the shark exhibit, etc. But more importantly it was a good launching location to get to any one of 3 National Parks within a 4 hour drive. We went to Bryce for a great viewing and park experience.
