We booked through Virgin Holidays in January 2018 for our holiday in November 2018; we think we got a fantastic deal brought through the New Year sales (less than £1500 for two people) flights and accommodation included, no resort fee.

The hotel is located next to the MGM and across the road from New York New York. We walked mostly everywhere; all destinations are accessible by foot, bus (bus stop outside hotel) or monorail (station inside MGM). The walk to the ‘Las Vegas’ sign is a straight walk passed the Luxor hotel toward Mandalay Bay.

We had no complaints, check in was quick and easy, our room was located in the Paradise Tower, cleaned everyday with fresh towels, bathroom products and fresh bottle of water (room 1816), a great sized room with a view of the strip.

We are not gamblers so cannot comment on the style of casino but all staff were pleasant and we always saw other guests playing the machines and around the tables.

We would recommend this hotel and the room we stayed in (Paradise Tower, room number 1816).

The hotel is located by the airport by we hardly heard a sound from the planes or passing traffic.

We walked to the pool, looked very nice but the weather was not warm enough for us to use. The Starbucks within the hotel was overpriced and the beauty spa was certainly overpriced for the hotel.

All excursions were collected from the NORTH entrance of the hotel.

Our experience of this hotel was great; we would return again and stay here.

Room tip: Paradise Tower Room 1816

Thank you, Kelly J, for taking the time to share your perspective regarding your visit to the Tropicana. It sounds as though everything went according to plan for everyone traveling in your party. We are in a great location for going on the excursions you have mentioned. During your next visit, I suggest stopping by our Rewards Desk. While you may not be avid gamers, we do still offer dining incentives and more to guests who use our rewards card. We appreciate you making the choice to stay with us, and look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit.

Location, clean but resort fees not worth it. We were there for a week and the pool was open one day then closed for the season. Basically we only got 2 very small bottles, gym access and internet for $40 a night extra on top of room fee. We mentioned how we felt ripped off and they just made excuses. I will not stay here again!

Room tip: Find another hotel without resort fees

Allan D, we appreciate your feedback on the Tropicana. We do charge a resort fee, alongside many of the properties in Las Vegas. This fee is meant to include our most widely requested amenities for one fee. Our most popular amenities included in this is our complimentary parking, in room WiFi, and Gym Access. While these are our most popular, they are not the only amenities we offer. Guest also have the option to redeem discounted entertainment tickets, and dining credits. We encourage our guests to review the FAQs page on the Tropicana Website for the most up to date offers. Hope this helps in planning your next stay with us.

Hilton needs to tighten the customer service on this hotel. The front reception acted as if we were bothering her when we checked in. Then she was more interested in speaking with my husband than answering the questions I had for her.

Conferences are apparently more important than Hilton guests and since conferences are held at the hotel regularly, be prepared to be treated as second rate.

I’m sure the very nature of Vegas brings about all kinds of patrons, but not all of us are looking to stiff the hotel or swindle them out of something. A couple of times, I had the distinct impression that I was being suspected of getting ready to steal or some other wrong activity. I surely witnessed a “conference patron” take items from the standalone store and walked away as if the stand was meant for his personal use, but hey, I’m the “suspicious Hilton guest”.

It’s nearly winter in Vegas. The AC is the walkways and halls can be turned down a bit. I hated walking from the main entrance back to our room. It was colder inside than outside.

We were in the older Club Tower. The room itself was clean, but dark. The mattress was not comfortable and the pillows were really thin and lumpy. I had to turn off the air because cool air was being pushed out, not heat, even when the thermostat said heat. It’s cold at night in Vegas now. Heat is needed.

No refrigerators in the rooms. You could probably blast the AC and keep things chilled.

Two bottles of water your entire stay. Not per night. Your. entire. stay. In fairness, paying for everything is a Vegas hotel thing and not unique to Tropicana.

I liked the painting in my room and the art by the elevator. They reminded me of my time in Havana and I wanted them. No, this lowly Hilton guest did not steal them either.

The breakfast buffet was good. We enjoyed the omelet chef. Nice spread, but pricy. You cannot take any food out with you if you are dining in. Only the buffet-to-go gets containers and they are not seated, so they must leave after getting their food.

Definitely not what we had hoped, but decent for the group rate we received. However, next time we will stay at a different property on the Strip.

Thank you, LilMsFox, for your feedback regarding the Tropicana. We apologize for any unintended service shortfalls that may have occurred during your visit. This is certainly not the standard that we set for our team. Nor is it the experience we would want any of our guests to have. Our team prides themselves in being able to provide every guest with a positive memorable experience. We understand that you were not able to experience us at our best. In our efforts to further address your concerns, these comments have been shared with our Hotel Ops team. Should you make the choice, our team would value having the opportunity to exceed your expectations on your next stay.

The Food & Beverage Director should be fired. The staffing is so poor (too few employees in every eating venue) that is was a serious wait for every restaurant in this hotel. Bacio for breakfast--at least a 45-minute wait every morning (but there was a whole section of tables in the outside area which was never opened for the hotel guests standing in line). Robert Irvine's Public House---long wait for food even though some days had few guests in the restaurant--need more wait staff. Food Court--same situation--long lines, minimal staff to take care of customers.Breakfast buffet--worst coffee int he whole world and most of the hot food was cold. Why can't you open this restaurant at 6 a.m. for those catching a plane?
I must add that my husband is a Diamond Hilton Honors Member so we ARE LOYAL TO THE BRAND. This is NOT your typical Hilton Hotel. The way we were treated by Moses in the Diamond check-in lounge was demeaning. No guest should ever be treated this way, no matter what. For example, we told him that we would be checking out a day earlier than what was on our reservation and he said he would change it. He did not. When we checked out, the original dates were still in our file. So much for service! Hire someone who actually cares about their job please! These are just a few examples of overlooked details which make or break the entire stay. At $250 per night, you can stay anywhere on the Strip!
