“Smack Dab in the Middle”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

I’ve been coming to Vegas twice a year for a while now and it’s the Fabulous Flamingo for me every time. My most recent stay was in one of the newly renovated Fab Luxury rooms on the 26th floor. The room was clean and well-appointed and what a view. The bathroom however did need some work – very clean but in need of a face-lift. (The Go rooms are much nicer) Maid service was exceptional; my room was made up by the time I got back from breakfast every morning.
This is an older Hotel but well kept. Check-in can be long but if you are a Total Rewards card holder, you can step right up and get served quickly. The location of the Flamingo can’t be beat – smack dab in the middle of everything. I can’t comment on the food, I only used the Buffet for breakfast and it surely fit the bill for me.
I have never had a problem with service – the staff has always been attentive and extremely polite, I have always felt comfortable and safe. After reading some of the reviews posted I’m a bit confused, the Flamingo is not the Bellagio or the Cosmopolitan - it is a grand old hotel. I think Bugsy would be proud.

Stepping into the oldest hotel on the Vegas Strip, Flamingo, makes you wonder did it also smell like coconuts when you walked into this hotel back in the days? This is a well located hotel on the Strip with easy to walk distance as far North as Wynn and South as MGM. Although they have the new Margaritaville Casino, it wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be, maybe they needed to add a waterfall. I don't particularly like the layout of the Flamingo casino floor, especially when guests crowds the floor when departing a theater. This hotel is making a revitalization with the new Linq about to be built next door and I have to say, the upgrade rooms are wonderful. The line around 9pm is long and NO ONE is using the self check in terminal. Perhaps if they had someone there to help people how to use it, more people would use it to check-in and not be afraid of technology. We manage to bypass the long line by going on the Gold Total Rewards line, which had 2 guests only. We upgraded to the GO Room for just $30 a night, which we stayed on the 26th floor facing the neon FLAMINGO sign for 8 nights. This room is amazing for the cost and the view of the habitat/pool area. However, you do face other hotel rooms, which you can peer in their windows so close the curtains. The TV in the room is so much bigger than what the pictures or video you watch on You Tube show. One thing that was a treat and I do want is the mirror TV bathroom. It had more channels than the TV in the room and was a nice fancy touch to the overall chic setting of the GO Room. The bed had a euromatress top so it was very comfortable to sleep or take a nap on. The chaise next to the window is also nice to nap on, but scary when you wake up to that floor to ceiling window. Only problem was the thermostat, you could not change the temperture so it stayed at 69 degrees when on and got warm when it was off. I was glad it was a warm winter in Vegas. Overall, the stay was quiet and plenty of space to store your belongings. I ate at the Asian food place in the food court, not that great, but nice to know I get free refills for my $5 soda. We ate at the buffet, need an upgrade. My favorite place to eat in the hotel was the Tropical Breeze Cafe, the $11.99 Ranch Skillet was a bargain for breakfast! One thing this hotel has that is nice is the Flamingo Habitat and the trails that goes around the pools, chapels, and Bugsy memorial. It was always a great start in the morning to go out there and listen to the waterfall. I would definately reccomend the Flamingo only if you upgrade to a GO ROOM. The rooms were clean, staff was great, and especially Thai at the Hertz counter where you can rent a car on the property and pick up the car at the garage. Elevators were a plenty and never had any issues coming down or going up from the high floor. I really enjoyed my week stay at the oldest hotel on the Strip and EXCITED to see the alley next door revitalized to Linq in 2013 where this part of the Strip will be the new HOT SPOT of LAS VEGA$! BON VOYAGE!

Room Tip: Upgrade to the GO ROOM for $30! It is well worth it and you'll thank me later for it.

Stayed for 4 nights with my son. Booked a comped room which was upgraded to a fountain view pet room at check in. Carpet had stains, but no odor. Room was fine, no complaints. Flamingo is centrally located on the strip. If you want a cheap room that's ok

Our room was very large and very clean. However, the furniture was a little worn and the bathroom was on the small side. All of the common areas in the hotel were spotless. Housekeeping was excellent. Check in was quick and easy. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay on the strip.
