“Nothing special and NO customer service skills”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

The good: lots of shopping and dining options, big bathrooms
The bad: paper-thin walls, no handicapped rooms, rude service, lumpy beds, hard to navigate, long walk to shuttle area (located in extremely stinky area near alley)

The employees of this hotel need to take Customer Service 101. Don't expect to get any help whatsoever. The salon did not return my call, and when I asked the concierge, they just said, "Oh, I guess they don't check their voice mail."

Bottom line: there are much better options in the area.

Room Tip: Try another hotel

This was our 3rd stay at the Planet Hollywood and starting to look tired compared to its newer more luxurious neighbours. On the plus side its location is fantastic in middle of Strip, Miricle Mile Shops are excellent. Dont expect to book early with the expectation of your requests being considered, we booked 4 mths ahead with 2 friends, requested higher floor, rooms near to each other and not near the elevators only to be put nxt to elevator on different floors! Told to wait till nxt day to see if we could change rooms, not very impressed. Rooms looking in need of an upgrade although good size and comfy beds. on last day had buffet breakfast plenty of choice but wasnt impressed when waitress reminded us that tip wasnt included in buffet price this comment left her with no tip at all find it offensive when meant to feel you have tip for as little as a good morning.

Room Tip: fourth visit over passed 6 yrs depends on member of reception staff some range from rude to helpful...

Having spent four night in Las Vagas before we went on a cruise I thought I should share some of our experiences with you.
We arrived at the airport and after picking up our baggage and headed for a cab to take us to our hotel and as soon as we stepped out the building we were bombarded with "cab sir only fifty Dollars to the strip" having emailed the tourist board before we left I knew the strip was only a mile away and ten-fifteen dollars at most in a cab.
We eventually fought our way to the official cab stand and a one duly arrived,we put the bags in and set off, then the driver asked if it was okay to go on the free way as it was a lot quicker, naturally I said yes as long as it was quicker.THIRTY EIGHT Dollars later we arrived at the hotel, the driver was paid and left to take out the luggage herself.
That is the story of the first cab driver, in total we had four cabs and all of them tried it on except the last one who was told "to the airport, straight to the airport, no free way"this he did but was none too pleased.
The hotel itself was good, rooms were fine with a view of the strip, they had food outlets within the hotel and all we tried were excellent and not too pricey.
We went to see Penn&Teller in the Rio hotel and it was superb entertainment, it turned out that night and the flight out was the best things on our short visit.
A walk down the strip was a bit of an adventure also, there is men and women trying to pass us cards and leaflets of naked girls, It started out a bit of a laugh but soon became a menace
The hotels really are a spectacle to see and the Ballagio fountains are amazing to see,but apart from that, not the best holiday for us.

Room Tip: Any room with a view of the strip

Stayed there 2/15 - 2/18/12 with my wife. I wish there was some rating between "Average" and "Very Good". I give it 3.5 green circles.

Clean, young, smokey, with a kind of "mall" type feeling given that it literally is in the middle of a mall.. or better said, the mall surrounds the casino.

Harrah's would like to tell you that this is their 2nd best property, and that may be so, but it is not in the same category as Aria, Belagio, or Wynn. Its peers would be more like Rio, Palms, or Hooters... Young, risque, modern, and clean but not the most elegant or classy.

Complaint: No "no smoking" blackjack tables. Given my wife was 7+ months pregnant and that there is a plethora of jerks with no hesitation to light up right next to an obviously pregnant lady, some non-smoking tables would have been nice.

Planet Dailies Restaurant for breakfast: Better than average breakfast place. Strongly recommend the breakfast burrito. Stay away from the chicken fried steak... middle is like rubber.

Rooms: Clean with modern trimmings. Bathroom is large. Shower area is dated and needs to be remodeled.

Lastly, want to comment on the Hotel Entrance/Lobby. Unlike alot of Vegas Hotels, there is no grand feeling entrance/lobby. This check in/entance area is underneath the hotel/casino in an area reminiscent of a garage/basement.

Room Tip: Rooms that have a view of strip are preferred.

I stayed at Planet Hollywood form 2/19/12- 2/23/12. The location is perfect in the center of the strip. The room was very clean and priced decent. Overall it was good, but next time I am going to stay at the Paris or Polazzo. The smoke is terrible, and the place lacks the better dining options some of the other hotels offer. If you are going to vegas strictly to party, this ideal place for you. However, if you like some of the finer things Vegas has to offer stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: stay in a suite
