“not up to snuff!”
Reviewed 5 June 2010

So my husband, daughter and I stayed here for mother's day, the first apartment we checked into had a terrible smell, and had to move to another apartment. The second one was only slightly better. The problem was it was musty, and dusty. It did not feel fresh. It felt dingy. After going to the store and buying some air freshner (not what I wanted to do after a four hour drive) and leaving all windows open (very cold but necessary) it started to feel better and breathable. I must admit also the layout was a bit odd if not felt wrong. Bath placed in hallway to bedroom opposite the door for the shower. I don't know I guess it could be great with very little effort and for a hyatt wanted to see that.

High Sierra Lodge lives up the Hyatt reputation of quality service. I am an owner at Hyatt Carmel Highlands but can never get a reservation, so we came here. 3 days of food, relaxation, and fun in a quality large two-bedroom unit can't be beat.

We stayed in the vacation club villas through interval international. What a lovely place! Our villa was a two bedroom with a fully stocked kitchen, dining area, sitting area and fireplace. There was plenty of room for the two of us and I think it would be very comfortable for 4 people, a little cozy for 6. The furniture was really comfortable and there was a nice little patio outside the sitting area that overlooked a wooded area (we were in building 6). We had access to all the amenities at the Hyatt hotel, which is just a very short walk away. The location is great - it doesn't overlook Lake Tahoe, but the beach is just a short walk away and there is a 2.5 mile walking trail along the beach that is quite nice. We stayed here in December and was snowed in one day due to a winter storm - it was fantastic - baked cookies, watched some movies on the big screen TV and just 'hunkered down'. WiFi connection was reliable. A very nice place in our opinion!

The High Sierra Lodge is wonderful place to stay if you are not picky about the location of your room and if you don't mind the non-lake location. Since it is not on the beach, there are no lake views. However, the two bedroom units are attractively furnished.

Our living room had a leather sofabed, two chairs, a dining room table that seated six, and a well-equipped kitchen. Our large balcony, which was close to the street, had a table with four chairs. Our bedroom had a lop-sided king bed, a chair, a dresser, a tv, two closets, and a one-person jacuzzi tub. The second bedroom had two double beds, a dresser, and a tv. The master bathroom had a shower and one basin. The second bathroom had a tub-shower combination with a one-basin sink.

The two bedroom units are situated in six different buildings. Each building has three floors. Building 1 is closest to the street, and if you get the third floor like we did, you have a noisy, yet pretty tree view overlooking the street. Building 2 has many units that face the parking lot. Building 3 baconies overlook the pool. Building four balconies overlook a pretty grassy area with a rock creek and lovely landscaping. It is next to the clubhouse and barbecues. Building 5 is the most private and overlooks a small grassy area and trees. I liked buildings 4 and 5 best. In my opinion, families with small children would like the 1st floor patio rooms in buildings 4 or 5. Those with children would also appreciate the close proximity to the Hyatt Resort next door where there are three pools, one for adults, one that is 3 1/2 feet deep, and one that is 1 1/2 feet deep. There is also a sandy play area. In summer, the use of these pools is offered to Vacation Club guests on Monday through Friday.

The resort is within a five minute drive to the lake, restaurants, and shopping. Some places are within walking distance.

We enjoyed our stay here and plan to return next year.

These are the condo type rooms adjacent to the Hyatt hotel. I've been twice in the last month and made the mistake of going to Northstar instead this last weekend. Two great bedrooms separated by a big family room, dining area and kitchen. Everything seemed solid and well put together. Staff was very nice and a laid back atmosphere (e.g., sleds available to use on the honor system). Located a couple minutes away from Diamond Peak ski slopes, which is a nice, small, family place. Great location close to restaurants, casino, starbucks, supermarket.
