“Great service, cozy hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2011

Although we may not be able to talk about whether it was value for money (we got it for $44 a night, so it could've been a bus shelter and we'd still call ithad good value), we were pleasantly surprised by this place.

The decor may be a little old, but it actually works here, especially being like the ol' West with the stuffed animals on arrival. Room was slightly small, but manageable with two people. The bathroom was quite spacious though, which made up for this. The staff were very friendly, especially the bloke that ran the breakfast! We had some nice chats with him, and he was very helpful with everything breaksfast related.

Can't really comment on the location-everywhere is a 30 second drive from anywhere which really makes it a fabulous location!

Would recommend this place for sure, but I don't know if we would've paid their top dollar.

Stayed October 2011 and are now calling this hotel "the great disappointment." We paid a little extra than we normally do and had hoped it would be one of the highlights of our cross-country trip. Unfortunately, the room was musty, bedspread stained, there was mold in the bathroom grout and the acoustic ceiling tiles gave it a cheap feel. The parking lot was poorly lit, the laundry and several vending machines out of service. The front desk staff was unwelcoming and aloof and, sometimes, just plain missing. When they returned, there no apologies for keeping us waiting. It was raining, so we decided to stay in and eat at the plain-jane Mexican restaurant, which was open, but we gave up after not seeing any staff for more than 5 minutes. The bar/lounge was closed (under construction). The hotel does have curb appeal, the lobby is romantic in a Yellowstone kind of way and the breakfast was good, but none of this made up for the rest. I felt like I really let my husband down on this one.

I knew from the reviews that the room would be small but, small is a understatement. The rooms were decently cleaned and the hotel was clean. The bed, decor and appliances are super-old and outdated and not inviting in any sort of way.

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. We used it as our base to visit the National park. Breakfast was a little basic and crowded at times but the service was generally good and the room was spacious and clean. Pleanty of restaurants and bars nearby although some were closing for the winter (even though there were crowds of tourist around)
Laundry in the hotel was a big help to catch up on our travel washing. Foyer was an eye opener with its taxidermy display.

Room Tip: Ground floor room was clean and easy to access

To sum it up:
- No value for money;
- The hotel smells of the Mexican restaurant all day;
- To this day we haven't figured the 'Deluxe' aspect of our room;
- Front desk staff that couldn't care less;
- The breakfast was very poor. Think off stale bagels, coffee with no flavor at all and no fruit;
- The breakfast area is so tiny that you almost have to step over the other guests to get food;
- The GM was busy with walking around and being the only VIP in the hotel;
- Superb location near the West entrance of Yellowstone NP though ;-)
