We had a wonderful one night stay in the Lower Lodge (a suite with King sized bed and spa tub!) and can't say enough good things about it! We did a two hour trail ride at HK Stables (onsite) with Christi, a very knowledgeable trail guide and lovely person. Our meal at the restaurant was fantastic and our server (Caleb) was top notch! Soaking in the Hot Springs Pool is always a unique experience. We went after dinner when it was less crowded and more relaxing. This place is truly special and we're glad we chose it to celebrate our 16 year anniversary of loving, learning and sharing a life together. Book a room here well in advance!

Room Tip: Spa Suite Lower Lodge!

I really want to like this place, and would stay here again. For us, bedding quality is a big issue. The pillows and linens need to be tossed out and upgraded for a good nights sleep. Overall, the staff was quite friendly, except for the front desk reception. We loved the restaurant and the food was very good. Our waiter, Baylor, was exceptional and made the meal even more enjoyable. The hotel staff were helpful in many little ways, starting with our reservation. We accidentally left a charger behind upon departing and a staff member ran to our car, bringing it back to us! The unique natural hot springs pool, although crowded, is a very nice touch. The on-site Saloon is also a nice place to go and unwind after a day in this beautiful country. Why the three stars...the room needed an upgrade including the carpet, bedding, and overall appearance. I love the rustic look but this was not it....just old. Regardless, I would go back as this place is unique and an enjoyable place to hang out for a day or two.

Lovely large room and bathroom. Very clean and beds VERY comfortable.
As well as front door to parking area, there was a back door and a lawned terrace with fantastic views of the mountains. (We were in one of the rooms higher up the hillside).
However, we found the room lights too dim for reading and there was no telephone in the room (essential if someone on their own has an accident or is taken ill).
There was no TV but, as this is America, that was a positive feature....!
Breakfast was extra and, although very good, it was rather expensive at $12.50. Also, there was no cheaper option for people who wanted just a continental breakfast as opposed to cooked.
When presented with the bill for breakfast, there was an option to include a tip. For a self-service breakfast....? They had to be joking....!

Historic lodge listed on National Historic Register. We stayed in lower lodge with comfy beds. Favorite part was swimming in open air natural hot spring pools...Strongly recommend saloon cheeseburger.

We purposely rearranged our out west trip so we could spend a couple of days here after I read about Chico on a travel blog. It sounded so good we thought it would be worth the trip. It was!! Such an incredibly beautiful setting. And for a family this is a great place. The hot springs are warm and welcoming and the view is like none other. This was the favorite stop for our kids. No TV’s or phones in the rooms which was great. We sat outside and played cards our lounged in the hot springs until bed time. A great way to unplug. Make an effort to visit!
