Great fun. My 14 yr old granddaughter was beside herself with excitement. Found a lot of treasures to take home. Will definitely do this again.

We stopped here to mine some sapphires. The staff was very helpful in getting us going and showing us what we need to do and also what to look for. This was a fun way to spend a couple of hours and we did find many small sapphires. Would do this again without having to think about it. Lots of age groups here and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Great family activity that does require a bit of work and patience. Once you purchase your bucket (or package of many buckets), you get a tube and some tweezers, then find a spot with a sifting pan and scrub brush. The staff will show you how to sift and slosh in the water in order to try and group your sapphires in one area. It is helpful to do a second wash because you will inevitably miss some the first time. Once you get the hang of it, then your quest to find the biggest and best begins! Nice gift shop with some cold drinks and snacks if you don't bring your own.

Fun for kids with keen eyesight. Grandparents will need help finding those glittering gems. Buy a bucket for $25, should last about 45 minutes to do the sifting and sorting and you'll have plenty of little sapphires and maybe a bigger one or two. They will weigh and bag for free. $5 for an evaluator to look them over professionally. Then a bit pricey to send off to Sri Lanka for cutting and polishing.

Your will get instructions and equipment and a bucket of gem laden gravel. It's great fun finding the sapphires and the people are glad to help you do so. Fun for the whole family. Your success will depend on your concentration and patience but you will probably score about 60 carets a bucket, many are facitable.
