“Relaxation at its finest”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2011

My husband and I took our first trip to Yellowstone the first week of September. We did a grueling 3-day backcountry hiking trip through Yellowstone, which was amazing, but decided we needed a really comfortable and relaxing place to rest afterwards...and we found that at the Rainbow Ranch. From the jazz music playing when we entered our room to the fresh-baked cookies and ridiculously comfortable beds, everything there has been carefully thought out and planned with your comfort and care in mind. We had a pond-side room and the view from our little balcony was incredible. All of the staff are so sweet and really genuine. They want to make your stay the best it can be. There was a wedding party there when we went and we can see why it would be the perfect place for a wedding...the outdoor hot tub and fireplace was also really terrific! We also ate at the restaurant as part of the romance package and the food was terrific. We are already planning to come back for our 10th year wedding anniversary!

Room Tip: book early

We went to Montana for a trip to Yellowstone - Rainbow Ranch Lodge tunred out to not be the best place , in hindisght we'd stay in W. Yellowstone, HOWEVER, this property was lovely and nice to get away from the touristy Park area. It was worth it, we were able to have a fabulous night's sleep - with the babbling river lulling us to sleep each night :) Cookies were waiting for us daily upon our return from the park (finally asked them to NOT leave - they were TOO delicious & we didn't need !) Shower was lovely, beautiful fireplace. Haven't even touched on the lovely restaurant in the main lodge... Also -Molton Brown amenities. One down fall for US was the breakfast - it was lovely, but could've been better - they have cold buffet w/ TINY homemade muffins, scones, toast, yogourt, fresh berries & homemade granola - they had 1 hot food and it was a quiche everyday, sitting in the warmer it gets spongy, maybe scrambled eggs would be better ?? We ate 1st night @ the Lodge, other nights we checked out surrounding restaurants -- La Luna @ Big Sky (upsacle/authentic tacos) delish ! Half Moon rest /bar -- FABULOUS ribs & moist, delish chicken -- highly recommend this place - staff & owner - very friendly & service great. One other night was Cinnamon Adventures ... there was a rest there that had INCREDIBLE mexican food... wow, we ate great and slept well. Nice deck overlooking river to sit & relax as well Thanks to ALL

Room Tip: request rooms by the river, w/ decks & chairs - very quiet & relaxing. Some rms overlook hig...

We did their adventrure package which included two dinners, and three activities, we chose the zip line tour, the horse trek and whitewater rafting. Everything was great but the hotel was expensive for the level of quality, I would have expected more luxury and less rustic. The activities were also good but I wouldn't bother with the zip line again as it was too much waiting around, we also had to argue with each activity company that we had already paid the rainbow ranch lodge and were not going to pay again - hoopefully the hotel has sorted out this glitch by now.
The restaurant in the hotel was amazing and would definately go there again.
All in all a good stay but not a wonderful one, the hotel could have been better for the price and should have offered more.

Room Tip: A bit too rustic but we had a great riverside room with a little deck.

Two families met and came together at the Rainbow Ranch. Little did we know we would be adding a third family...the Rainbow Ranch staff! We were addressed by name and made to feel like we were celebrating in our own home. All staff members were thoughtful and even some moved to tears by the wedding out back riverside. Which is no small compliment for a crew that witnesses weddings nearly every weekend during the summer months. A staff so committed that on our last night they ordered up a literal rainbow above the ranch for our enjoyment. Well, perhaps not but they called us in our room to let us know about the stunning view out back. This piece of paradise helps you forget about your daily troubles and allows you to reconnect with nature. We highly recommend sleeping with your windows open to listen to the sounds of the rushing river. The food is first class and for some culinary snobs it's no small feat. The rooms are rustic luxury with heavenly beds, linens, and towels. For seasoned travelers 'this is not your usual' complimentary breakfast, with fresh fruit & pastries, along with homemade granola. The coffee & tea service is even available most of the day, not too mention the homemade cookies delivered to your room on a nightly basis.
We are so pleased, that our next trip back is right around the corner.

We had a great stay at Rainbow Ranch! When you walk in and they have your key at their finger tips like you are the only people they have been waiting for, you know you will be treated well.

We loved the decor, the peacefulness, the fireplace ready to go (though it was too warm to use, it was very inviting), the deck overlooking the grounds, and having a sitting room was great. The food was fantastic and the staff is so friendly and helpful with everything. We heard the staff working with a couple with some dietary restrictions in regards to meal choices and they couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Great continental breakfast too.

We had a wonderful horseback riding adventure right from the grounds up into the mountains and fantastic couples massage in a beautiful, remodeled tack house on the property.

We stayed here at the end of a motorcycle trip around Yellowstone and surrounding areas and it was just what we needed to unwind and relax before heading home.
