We've had to visit Barnes Jewish Hospital repeatedly in STL. Staying at The Parkway made these visits less painful. Staff is great, facilities are exceptional and lcation unbeatable.

Room Tip: try to get street side for something to see. Otherwise you are looking at a parking garage.

Located next to Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis (and Washington University School of Medicine), adjacent to Central West End (good restaurants and nightlife), near to Forest Park, convenient to most things you might want to see in SL. Easy access to freeways, downtown, etc. Rooms are spacious and very well priced considering their size, ammenities and the location of the hotel. Beds are large and very comfortable with high-quality sheets. Very clean. Bathrooms could use some updating, but showers had good water pressure and instant temperature control for the water. The day I arrived the front desk staff was not particularly friendly or welcoming (but the NCAA basketball tournament was in town, maybe that had something to do with it, because I notice that other reviewers did not have the experience). Anyway, who cares, really? You see them when you check in and check out. The rest of the time what matters is the room, the price and the location. Covered parking is next door and costs $5 more. The lobby is not very stylish if you care about such things. The exercise room is adequate. One criticism is that the breakfast was akin to something you would find at a Hampton Inn somewhere on an interstate highway in the middle of nowhere. It will get you started but it is not particularly appetizing. But it is included in the price of the room, so really, it is unreasonable to expect much more. Nearby, the Chase Park Plaza is nicer (especially in the lobby) but 50-100% more expensive (and there you pay extra for a much nicer breakfast). All in all, great value.

Many of the people who stay ast this hotel are visiting family who are in the large hospital complex that is next door. It is by far the most conveniently located hotel in SL for this purpose.

Was not familiar with this hotel and since it is not affiliated with a chain had no idea what to expect. The hotel was clean and the room nice, equivalent to a Sheraton or Marriott hotel. The bathroom shower (no tub) was kind of strange in that the shower curtain did not reach the bottom, therefore making the bathroom floor wet when you took a shower. However this was a minor annoyance. The location is perfect with many Central West End restaurants-bars-shops all within an easy walk. For visitors to St. Louis, unless you have specific needs to be downtown I would suggest staying here for a much livelier experience. It is next to beautiful Forest Park (zoo, museums) and the nights are exciting here as opposed to a dead downtown. Lots of nice little extras included like FREE snacks and bottled water in room and fresh baked cookies in the lobby at night.

Stayed at the Parkway for three days in late March 2012 while visiting Barnes Jewish Hospital. Immediately was greeted by friendly faces. Although I arrived early, they accommodated and found me a clean room. Laundry facility was adequate. Hotel fitness room was modest consisting of a few stationary bikes, ellipticals, leg press and leg curl machine and a rack of dumbbells. There is always popcorn and fresh made chocolate chip cookies. Breakfast is complimentary and very good compared to some of the other complimentary breakfasts out there. There is a free shuttle that will take you to local shopping and sights. The bed was comfortable and I would say above average. The room decor is not chic and some of the furniture looks out of place. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. There is an Applebees on the ground floor and that serves as the hotel restaurant.
What makes this place exceptional is the staff. They seem to be eager to please. That is why I give this place 5 stars.

Visiting Washington University: while this hotel is not on their "preferred" list, it is quite convenient as it is very near the Central West End Metrolink station. We took the Metrolink from the airport, to the hotel, as well as back and forth to Wash U.

Pros: clean, reasonable rate, free popcorn, close to metro. Free shuttle ride to/from restauants. This hotel is in the heart of the healthcare district, and connected to or close to the medical complexes. Free computer/printer for boarding passes in lobby.
Cons: no wi-fi in rooms, only in lobby...but it's free.

Room Tip: 615 has a nice view of the St. Louis arch in the distance

Hello and thank you for taking the time to rate the Parkway Hotel on Trip Advisor. We are extreamly convenient to Washington Unversity, only 2.5 miles (5 Minutes) away. Our complimentary shuttle runs from 6am to 9:15pm and is a convenient and fast way to get to the University. the Metro Link station is out our back door (this is the Central West End stop), this is also very convenient and fast way to get to the University as well. We are happy to read in your review that you had gotten to enjoy some of our freebees. we have our hot breakfast buffet that has rotating items such as our breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches and more.

WI-FI in guestrooms is a BIG YES: For free WI-FI, we do have WI-FI on floors 7 and 8 which is our VIP Level. Our VIP Level is beautiful, with plush terry robes to use while you are our guest, snack basket that includes bottled waters, make up mirror, 32" flat panel screen TV and upgraded bedding.

We look forward to having you as our guest again and remember to ask for our VIP Level when making your next reservation. OUR VIP Level is also VERY AFFORDABLE. Thanks again for your review. :O)
