What a find! This beautiful little house is a gem, tucked in the elbow of the Torrox turn-off. It is small (a comfortable double bedroom, a smaller single and double sofa bed in the open living room / dining kitchen), immaculately decorated and maintained and run / owned by the nicest people. Francisco and his sons are wonderful hosts, always there when you need them, invisible when you don’t.
For a pair of fanatical bbq-ers like my husband and I, this place is amazing. Huge outdoor space with bbq, pizza oven and large dining space, including wind screens on its whitewashed arches if it gets breezy with adjacent sunny private pool. The Astro turf beneath the loungers stops your feet burning, the green fencing helps block out the autovia which is close, busy and naturally noisy so if you need silence, this is not the place for you.
But if you like great hospitality, cooking for yourselves with freely offered, home grown fruit and veg from your own garden, including daily fresh free range eggs, you couldn’t do better.
The house and grounds are secure behind locked driveway gates, safe for children, the terrace is cool and designed for outdoor living, the house is sufficient and well maintained (there is only one WC, not two, comprising a compact shower room / toilet with the washing machine in the cupboard, directly off the living room) and the generous hosts are attentive and helpful - Francisco speaks only Spanish but his sons speak good enough English.
You need a car, or you will spend a lot on taxis - it’s about €10-12 to Torrox Costa.
There is satellite tv, mostly in Spanish or German, a DVD player, a CD player on the terrace, and good facilities for cooks / chefs, including good pans and sharp knives!
It does seem a little strange that such a small house (comfortably only 3 adults or a small family) offers outside dining / entertaining space for over a dozen, but if you have friends locally, this is a great place to entertain!
Good afternoon. We rested here with family. With two children. All were very satisfied. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hosts are very hospitable people.I would like to return here.
Just returned from 2 weeks in this villa and will definitely look to use it again if we return to Spain. The villa was ideal for myself and my 2 children. It was very secure with a large locking gate and in a quiet area. There is a lovely garden / pool area with sunbeds and a good size pool although the pool isn't heated (most aren't from what I've found). There's also a large amount of land with fruit trees, a greenhouse where we could help ourself to what we wanted (shame we don't like more) and a hen house for fresh eggs. We were a couple of minute drive from local supermarkets and the beach, and close to the motorway to visit other towns etc.
The owner was lovely as well, although not speaking English himself had 2 sons who he brought to help translate. Was very helpful and allowed us to have any of the food he was growing, also brought a plate of sugar cane for us in the middle of our holiday. Ensured we had all of the info we needed.
Only down sides for us were a bit of noise in a morning from the main road and a dog barking / howling on a night, nothing that can be done about this. Think the kids would have liked a few more English TV channels as well. Don't think this would have been a problem if we'd done more days out but we came to relax mainly.
Just as a note, we arrived on a Sunday and no supermarkets were open, so we only had what we brought with us. If I'd known I would have got more at the airport, we had to wait for restaurants opening in the evening to get food and water (after arriving at 11am).
