“OMG the mussels”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

What a wonderful cafe!. My husband and I - with another couple - found this cafe on a Saturday after lunch. Menu has lunch and brunch and wonderful selections: Tuna Nicoise, Poached eggs with smoked salmon - and the mussels. We ordered the mussels from the appitizer selection and the serving fed 2 of us. And the very, very pleasant server asked if we could try a cup of the evening's soup which the chef sent out to us - hmmmm roasted fennel. We definately will be going back many times and want to try it for dinner. Wish parking was easier, but hey - worth the search.

“Memorable food, forgetable name”
Reviewed 12 January 2012

We went with a friend to this cute French Bistro in Westport on a Friday night. The food is pretty traditional casual French fare, steak fritte, Crouque Monsieur, etc. well prepared and presented by friendly (though not exceptionally knowledgable) waitstaff. The food was quite good and reasonably priced. We were there early on Friday and it was pretty quiet when we arrived, but it was becoming more lively when we left. Nice change from the burgers and bar food that is more common in Westport. My only (tiny) complaint is the name, couldn't they think of something that hinted at the nature of the menu?

“A gem among many interesting Westport eateries”
Reviewed 22 December 2011

Our Kansas City friend introduced us to the Westport Cafe & Bar when we were visiting. It's a bistro with a lot of character, good food, and it's easy to see why it is our friend's favorite eateries in the historic Westport district.

“French bistro”
Reviewed 11 September 2011

This was a very pleasant, casual restaurant on trendy, historic Westport Ave. It was pretty empty at 7:30 pm on a Friday evening except for people enjoying each other at the bar, quietly. After a long day of travel we appreciated the calm atmosphere. Our omelet fin herbes were wonderful. Service was pleasant and knowledgeable. I understand this place has a terrific brunch and does a late night business but can't report on that. It is a simple place, small, but with a definite bistro charm and could fit into a Paris neighborhood. For casual but interesting fare and atmosphere, this is a good place.

“Friendly, intimate restaurant with great food in a fun neighborhood”
Reviewed 23 August 2011

We happened on the Westport Cafe and Bar on an evening walk though the trendy Westport neighborhood and stopped for a drink. We were so impressed with the friendly service and look at the menu, we returned for dinner the next night. An arugula salad was lightlly and fragrantly dressed with oil and lemon juice. Broad noodles were tossed with black truffles, oil and herbs. The steak frites and filet were both perfectly cooked. A berry and cream dessert was lovely and plenty for two. Recommend it highly!
