Our daughter has moved to St. Louis, but has not been able to find a Chinese restaurant she likes as well as Bamboo Gardens. When she visits, we always have to eat at Bamboo. Fantastic buffet!

My husband and I were traveling south to Florida, and stayed overnight in Lamar, Missouri which is along the 1-49 corridor. We ate at the Bamboo gardens on a cold January day. There were not many people in the restaurant, but we had the buffet and the price was amazing. For seniors, it was $6.99. It was not that the food was fantastic or unusual, it was just that it was hot and varied. The egg drop soup was great to have when the outside temperature was 25 degrees. There were plenty of vegetables that had been nicely stir fried and still crisp. We celebrate small town America, and this was a small town restaurant, with a more than 10 year history in this small farming community. Don't just stop at the fast food places, but take a chance at small town restaurants. The locals don't go often enough to this restaurant, but there are often visitors to the town that is the birth place of Harry S. Truman, 33rd President of the United States. Its on the main street and near the only stop light in town.

I took a chance. I did not see "buffet" on any signage, but there were cars in the parking lot and a line at the drive-up window, so I took a chance and was not disappointed. Talking with some of the other diners, I learned this was a local favorite. The buffet was not huge, but it had the expected items. The Lemon Chicken was very good, as were the fried catfish filets. The price was just a bit high, but not unreasonable. Food was fresh and tasty. And the service was very good.

We got here late when they were preparing to tear down the buffet but left it up for us. The owners were there and extremely friendly even sending us with a bag of fortune cookies for our long drive home! The buffet had good variety including fresh fruit and ice cream.

Just very so-so. It’s a very small buffet with a small selection. It’s chichen, and more chicken dishes. They did keep it pretty well full and fresh. The salad bar selection is very small. The food at their other restaurant (Root) was better with more selection. The egg drop soup had very little egg in it. The only other selections were oven baked bbq ribs, and obviously frozen prebreaded shrimp. The ice cream was good. No other desserts.
