We've been to the Rivertown several times and will definitely go back. The rooms have been updated over the last couple of years to make them even more comfortable and cozy. On our last visit, we stayed in the Tennyson suite. Two fireplaces (one gas--near the bed and the other electric--near the sitting area), a HUGE tub, cozy sitting area and very comfortable bed made the room wonderful. We enjoyed the social hour with several different wines and a big assortment of crackers, crisps, cheeses, meats, and fruit and brought some homemade cookies back to the room with us for an evening snack. We chose to have the continental breakfast delivered to our room in the morning. The chef delivered it personally and set it up in the room. He brought everything (fruit compote, baked oatmeal, scones, muffins, coffee, and orange juice) except the vegetable strata which was only being served in the dining room. Overall, a relaxing stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor (Tennyson suite, Lewis Carrol room, and the Jayne Austen stuite) are a bit more private, but you do have to climb three flights of narrow stairs. Not difficult climbing, but it can be hard to maneuver large luggage. All rooms have a nice view of the gardens.

This was an incredible experience, and our favorite Bed and Breakfast by far. The home is furnished with unbelievable artifacts and eclectic furnishings. It is kept up to the best of standards with many different types of rooms to choose from .We stayed in the Lewis Carroll Bedchamber on the top third floor. It was very unique and immaculate, complete with a whirlpool tub and your own fireplace! The king sized bed was awesome, with wonderful linens, pillows and trappings...LOVED IT! We had our own bathroom and the stay was quiet and peaceful. The staff was wonderful, attention to detail was important to them to help make your stay memorable. The chef was entertaining and informative when we attended the breakfast in the morning. The meal was excellent, all local goods and organic, and we enjoyed meeting the other guests staying as well. After questioning the others who were also there, all were pleased with their rooms. The gardens are beautiful and I only wish the weather would have cooperated even better to spend some quality time out on the porch and wandering about.....definately worth a return visit. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: You may want to stay on the main floor, second floor , or the Carriage House ( suites), as the third floor rooms have the potential of being very warm. It was April and we slept with our window open all evening.....

Rivertown Inn perched on the top of a hill in Stillwater is absolutely beautiful. We reserved the Agatha Christie Grand Suite in the carriage house. I was stunned at the feeling you get when walking into it. As the hostess pointed out all the amenities and and gave us our key stamped with the word Agatha, we were taken back to a time of opulent luxury on the Orient Express. This suite gives the impression that you are traveling in your own private accommodations on that train. Every attention to detail and comfort is evident here. The hot tub is in a separate room and is huge with colored underwater lights and lovely robes and bath products. The bath room is another separate area and features a steam room and rain shower. We loved the wonderful king size bed and gas fireplace. The lighting creates a mood with dimmers and softy lit Tiffany lamps, it is extremely romantic! Coffee is delivered to your door each morning, nice to have in your private garden area. They serve an excellent breakfast and the staff was amazing. They are dedicated to your privacy and comfort. Everything was perfection!

We attended an event in Stillwater, which is why we decided to stay at Rivertown Inn. Our stay in the Alfred, Lord Tennyson Suite was too short. We didn't spend much time in our room or at the house, but the time we did spend there was very comfortable. The staff of this beautiful bed & breakfast have paid close attention to every detail, soft towels, quality toiletries, and romantic decor. The grounds were well kept and inviting.

Our special, five-course, themed breakfast was well researched and delicious. I enjoyed that Chef Ray explained how each dish was prepared as it was served, and especially loved the house muffins.

I did have a couple of small issues that I brought up with management, and they were resolved quickly and graciously. Very much appreciated!

I can't wait to stay here again and explore more of this amazing property.

Room Tip: The Alfred, Lord Tennyson Suite was spacious, as it has a sitting room with a second fireplace! The hot tub in this room was very large, however, there is no door on the bathroom, but instead a privacy curtain.
