While focused on book arts and well-known to traditional to avant garde book arts practitioners and collectors, MCBA is an excellent attraction for visitors of all ages. One of only three book arts centers in the country, its gallery and window exhibits show a range and variety of printing processes and crafts, book and neo-book and anti-book expressions, and unusual book/print related collections that only occasionally get this sort of attention and curatorial quirkiness at other galleries and museums. An expert faculty offers classes for beginners, families, and working artists on everything from letterpress printing to making pop-up books. We swing by several times a year for an opening or book release and always have a fun and rewarding time. How Jeff Rathermel (who is both executive and artistic director) keeps the place both anchored in tradition and unafraid of press freedoms you didn't know existed is remarkable. Check out their website for upcoming classes and events.
