My husband and I stayed at Beacon Pointe Resort over 4th of July. We were on a ground-floor room facing the lake which is by far the best part of this property. It's great to sit outside with a book and listen to the birds and the lake without all the chaos that you find when staying in Canal Park.
The resort is a short drive away from all the restaurants and entertainment in Duluth/Canal Park. The resort also has free bike rentals included with the stay with direct access to the Lakefront trail.
The room we stayed in was a one-bedroom condo that included a separate bedroom and full kitchen, in addition to a nice seating area with fireplace and TV.
The one complaint I have is the sleeping situation. The room has a double bed which is not big enough to comfortably sleep two adults in my opinion. For the price point of this hotel it should have a minimum of a queen bed, if not a king bed. The bed also was not very comfortable besides the fact that it was too small.More
