We sat at the bar and had drinks. It’s a huge place with games available and lots of seating. There was also a patio outside available. The beer was great and there was a nice variety available. Our only complaint was the crowds when the kayak and brew tours would come through. It would get very loud and crowded and the sudden swarm of people made it difficult to get refills when we wanted them.

Dirty fries are very good. The bacon and cheese sauce takes them over the top. Loved the cherry pie beer and cake walk. Pistachio avocado dark beer was very good too. This place has to be on the “must stop” list when in traverse city.

We walked here one Sunday night for a beer—and ended up enjoying five half pints. While some purists might question placing entire pecan pies or cucumbers in the brew, Right Brain has come up with some very delicious and diverse brews.

We went here late on a weekday afternoon to taste some beer. It's in a very unassuming location in a residential area in Traverse City. The inside is nothing fancy--a large industrial space with some video games, a bar at the back, and several tables. Definitely not going for much of a statement about the atmosphere other than being totally chill and off-the-radar.

We sat the bar and ordered the six beer tasting. I was impressed--they were big glasses of each beer, which made the tasting a very good deal, and you could try anything that was on-tap. I liked being able to customize the tasting to the things you like.

There was a lot to like! The Looping Owl, a barrel aged amber ale, had really nice vanilla overtones and was great for fall. The Cake Walk was a light ale that was easy to drink. The Chubby Squirrel was delicious--I was ready for winter with its spicy taste of cinnamon and nutmeg and its malty flavor. The Cool Hand Cuke was really interesting--the cucumber notes were really prominent and the flavor tasted natural. I went here to try the CEO Stout, and it did not disappoint; it was among the best stout beers I've ever had. It had that deep, dark robust flavor you want from a stout without the lingering bitterness in the finish that plagues several stout beers. And the bartender was kind enough to give me a taste of the Imperial CEO stout; I wouldn't order it in a sampler, because it's more of a sipping beer with a really rich mouthfeel, but it was great to try.

So, overall: really impressive, interesting beers. Just want you want from a microbrewery!

Kudos for service, too. The woman who helped us was super-friendly and really knew her beers without being annoying about it. She had lots of good recommendations for the area and engaged us in the right amount of conversation.

Don't go here expecting anything fancy, but if you want an interesting tasting experience of some make-you-think beers, put it on your list. Was a really fun hour.

We stopped with high hopes of a great burger and a great beer. They failed on both aspects. The beer was ok but the food was a major disappointment. The fries were limp and under seasoned. The meat was good but the bun was bland and oversized.
