Description: Town Tavern is a cool, contemporary American classic In 2007, a modern take on a traditional 1930s tavern opened its doors and made its mark on the busy streets of downtown Royal Oak. Town Tavern is a dining destination bursting with personality and serving up American comfort food with flair. When renowned designer Ron Rea was tasked with creating a contemporary version of an old-time neighborhood tavern, he infused the space with an extra-long bar, dark mahogany and rich red bar stools. Walls of the restaurant are filled with old photographs of Royal Oak, while walls of the bar are stocked to the ceiling with what's needed to create your favorite cocktail. Don't let the traditional tavern vibe fool you. Our menu is anything but typical. You'll find the finest bar plates, with a creative twist. The cheeseburgers top many best-of lists. Guests come from far and wide for our award-winning Venison Chili. And our Lobster Mac and Cheese is comfort food with upscale appeal. Of course, every dish deserves a beverage to match it. Choose yours from our extensive wine, beer and cocktail list. Town Tavern is that comfortable dining and drinking establishment that lends itself to leisurely meals and long conversations. Spend time here and you'll quickly understand why we're the talk of the town.

We came here for dinner on a Saturday night, with friends. Very busy, very crowded. We got a Wedge Salad, with Bacon, Red Onion, Grape Tomato, Bleu Cheese Dressing ($6) which was too small. I could have eaten that on my own :) It was very tasty.
Our entries were FILET MIGNON 8 oz with Mashed Potatoes, Wild Mushroom, Grilled Onion, Asparagus, Herbed Horseradish Butter ($32). The meat and the mashed potatoes were really good, but there were only 2 pieces of asparagus, not more than one sliced mushroom, and a bunch of onions. I think the dish could use more vegetables.
We also got the TT BURGER ($13) which came with fries. My husband said it was one of the best burgers he has ever had.
For dessert, i got the CREME BRULEE ($6) which was good AND Gluten Free :)

Overall, an enjoyable meal, but would have loved more veggies with my filet mignon.

Four of us had dinner there. All the meals were very good friendly service good wine list. They were crowded and the place was very loud. Difficult to even hear person across the table from you. This was the only drawback.

We were very pleased with our meals. We both had the meatloaf and it was excellent; prepared with a wine and mushroom gravy. Very accomodating waitstaff. The atmosphere is that of a bar...nothing special.

Drinks, too, had premium prices, but were smallish. I will go again.

I have dined here about 5 times and the food and service have always been exceptional. There are many creative and innovative dishes and the specials are always excellent. The wait staff know all about each dish and are very attentive without being over-bearing. The atmosphere is comfortable. Lot's of wood but very modern. Love this place.

They always do a good job but I can't really say that it is ever outstanding. The food is solid and it makes for a good business lunch. However the menu seems to be getting a little bit stale and I think they need to rotate in some more changes to their menu.
