We booked to stay in the sleeping dog hostel for 3 nights whilst staying in Leon. The hostel itself is newly opened and hence some work needs to be done to get it up to standard to have guests in it, in my opinion. For £20/night in a private room with aircon and an ensuite, the room was reasonably priced and would be a bargain when everything has been fixed/finished.
The saving grace of this hostel is the staff and owners. They accommodated everything we needed and tried to fix everything that broke whilst we were there as best they could. Although I have given it a 2/5 rating for our stay (toilet broke and the wifi stopped working whilst we were there, as well as other problems), I have no doubt that this will be a great hostel to stay at in the near future!
For the owners reference, some of the issues we had were:
- Very uncomfortable beds, with the mattresses falling through the bed frame during the night.
- No shower head, and so made showering difficult as it was effectively a hose.
- Loose wires and bare concrete walls could do with being tidied up.
- Broken toilet as mentioned above
- Understand there is nothing that could have been done about the wifi, on your part, was just frustrating when trying to book future hostels (macdonalds free wifi came in handy here)
PS, a huge dog roams around with the owner, but it is a gentle giant! They have also now got a kitten aswell, which kept us occupied one evening!
