Review of Janaki Temple

Janaki Temple
Reviewed 19 August 2017

Build in Rajput-Mughal-Nepali style of architecture it is the major attraction of Janakpur. The domes are clearly in Rajput-mughal style, something that is not very common in temples. A very serene place and you can many wedding rituals happening in temple complex as this houses the Sita's "vivaah mandap" (wedding place).

I visited here along with my family. We started from Kathmandu and we took around 6 hours to reach here. The temple which is in the shape of a palace is extremely beautiful and it's very old structure but still looks damn beautiful. It's such a pious place because it's the home of Goddess Sita. So many small small temples are also there. After paying a fee of Rs 5/- per person we went to see the place where Lord Rama and Goddess Sita got married called the 'Vivah Madap'.
The only request I have to the people of Janakpur, try to clean it up along With the surroundings and will request the people who come from different places to visit here, please don't put any litter here. Worth visit !

The building is huge and well decorated with all the colors and swirls, turrets, arches, etc. There are many rooms and only a few are open for tourists and pilgrims. There are some smaller side temples to see as well.

Located centrally in Janakpur dham its a must visit place for Hindu devotees . Its a huge and very fine archaeological Hindu structure of Mithila Kingdom. It's almost 400 years old structure and still looking so beautiful and young.
