Fish River Lodge provides a tremendous experience. Everything from how remote in beautiful the setting is, to amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff, to fantastic food and a beautiful lodge and gorgeous rooms. Excursions were well worth it — very interesting and fun. It’s a long drive but worth it. I recommend it and will plan to go back!

Fish River Lodge with great rooms with magnificent views. Food well presented and very enjoyable. Swimming pool that is welcomed in the Namibian heat. Very good service and a most enjoyable game drive in the Fish River Canyon.

Unbelievably great location (though it takes a bit to get there), that is worth the drive. Staff are uncompromisingly polite. If you are met by Jacobus at reception, you are in good hands; and take a game drive with Engelbrecht - he knows the area and its history well. In our three weeks across Namibia (Kalahari, Aus, Kolmanskop, Soussesvlei, Swakopmund/Walvis Bay, Twyfelfontein, Etosha, Waterberg, and Windhoek) - this was THE best lodge we visited.

Stunning Location! And the day trip down to the canyon to the river was fantastic. Worth the visit. But don't expect a middle of nowhere, quite night good sleep. The location is very windy and the building are not constructed with this in mind. Metal doors, windows and roof structure all creek and rattle in the wind. Considering the cost of a night stay one would expect a bit more of a quality acomodation (Not just pretty deco)

The journey to get here is a bit of an effort, first the ravel road and then the 19km of track (4WD advised). The track itself will take you almost an hour. But the destination is well worth it. A beautifully designed and located lodge, at the edge of the Fish River Canyon. Beware that its location can be cause for a lot of wind, most of the time. The staff are very friendly and have a lot of personality. No effort is too big for them. Take advantage of one of the excursions that are offered. On a previous visit, we had done the walk down so we decided to take it easy and go on the 4x4 trip down into the canyon. Our guide and driver Engelbrecht was such a friendly and knowledgeable guys. We saw quite a bit of game, which is not very common. The drie takes quite a while and contains an interesting pass, but there is no need to be afraid. A little walking is involved in stretches that are too bumpy to stay on the vehicle. Because bumpy it is, be prepared. Your reward is a fantastic trip with great views and-if possible- a refreshing dip in the river.
Breakfasts and dinners in the Fish River Canyon are very good. wifi may be a problem as it is satellite and did not always give a (good) connection.
