We often come here as a family, and have come to know the owners personally. They have a variety of rooms available that offer budget accommodations as well as those with sliding glass doors that exit directly to the beach. Motels closer to town don't offer the stunning view of the bridge and Mackinac Island or a beach with fire pits, picnic area and beach chairs. The pool has both indoor and outdoor sections and the hot tub is spacious. The owner also owns Bell's Melody Motel and Northwinds. Some of those rooms are smaller and less expensive, but do yourself a favor and get one of the beachside units with a view. There is also a complimentary breakfast.

Thank you for your positive comments. We are glad you and your family enjoyed your stay with us. We have had many families through out their generations and seen the children and grandchildren grow. We, also, have family reunions at our properties. The families enjoy the
grills to cook out. The campfires in the evening. The beach to play and the indoor/outdoor
connected pool. We will look forward to seeing your family again.

The Sunrise Beach Motel is clean and has a nice location, but the rooms are extremely tiny, like an inexpensive hotel room in Europe. The teen that had a room to herself wasn't too unhappy, but the two of us in the shared room had no place to put things. I wish they hadn't shoehorned the Queen bed into the room - a double would have left us at least a little space.

The bathroom was tiny, with no surfaces to set things and a shower that was about 2.5' x 2.5'

The included breakfast was the bare minimum, there wasn't even fruit.

This is one of the less expensive motels in Mackinaw, but it isn't enough less expensive to justify the inconvenience of the cramped conditions. It was still $90/night per room for a room without a view.

The best thing I can say is that wifi worked well.

The Sunrise Beach Motel is noted for it's Lakefront rooms with private decks and balconies with full view of the bridge. I am sorry you were not satisfied with the economy, courtside room you
chose. The much larger Lakefront rooms with the deck and balcony were available at the Lakefront price.

Beautiful view of the lake, from balcony w. 2/3 dirty chairs; 1 chair on a beach covered with goose droppings; couldn't find remote (under the bed); mosquitoes inside at night -unbelievable; hot tub non-functioning; shower water warm not hot, and bathroom door wouldn't close; travelling with family, and one of them left and went to another hotel, even though he had paid for this one; rates seemed good, until I found out how little he paid; Third time here, will be the last--loved the last two visits and don't know what happened. Skip the "breakfast," coffee little better than hot water; bagels and cereal is the breakfast

One of the most reasonable priced motels around and it's on the beach, with a nice outdoor/indoor pool and hottub.
It has a great view of the bridge at night on the south end of town so it's quiet, but do yourself a favor and get one of the rooms beachside...great views. We stayed in the ground floor units on the side, which are more reasonably priced, but don't offer the views.
Good: price, pool, view, location. Drawbacks...our room smelled musty and the temperature of the shower was either scalding hot or ice cold. BUT, the rooms seemed well insulated since our neighbors ran their TV. You could hear it outside our room, but NOT inside the room, which is unusual so I figure the rooms must be well soundproofed, something you don't often find.
Rooms were clean and well kept. It ain't the Ritz (and I've stayed in them) but for our family for one night, (we wanted a cheap place on the beach) it was a great find. I'd stay there again despite the musty room and shower...hey two small things we can overlook. I'll also post a couple pics soon on this property.
Don't be put off by my average rating. The above and excellent categories are reserved for properties that you truly want to stay at and that offer much more. Again, for the family, it works great.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I am sorry about the musty smell. The new carpet
we have installed since has taken care of this natural problem that occurs on the water.
