Susan and Bob went above and beyond to make our family reunion special. They remembered our names and were always available if we needed them. Susan even assisted with my strict diet restrictions and made me feel right at home. I highly recommend Oak Cove to anyone seeking a peaceful and fun getaway.

Thank you for the wonderful review and five stars. We were so happy to have your very large family from so far away. It was an adventure and so very well planned out. It was our pleasure to have you.

My husband, son and I stayed in yesteryear, a nice 1890's farm house. We absolutely loved it. The resort itself is also very nice with a lot to do. The food is great, as well as the owners and staff. Thank you for a great stay!

Thanks for the great review. We sure did find out that we both loved antiques ! And you know so much about them. It was fun talking to you about it. You did so many fun things in the area. It was a treat to hear all about it. Glad you found us.

We stayed a week at Oak Cove and had a fun and very enjoyable stay. The food is great, the facilities excellent (short walk to Lake, lodge and cabins), and the owners and their staff couldn't have been nicer.

Great homemade meals - breakfast & dinner included in price.
Lake Cora - very clean, busy at times with jet skis, power boats, pontoon boats (we were there over July 4th). It calmed down considerably after the holiday. Staff attentive and friendly. We stayed in the Beach House. Clean and right on the water and beach area. If you want privacy, pick a cabin further up the hill, but very convenient for people who want beach time and the water right outside their window!
BUT... everyone in our family reunion was taken aback by the additional 18% owed on the balance at time of check-in. We scrambled to come up with $356 dollars more (they don't take credit cards). Others in our party owed up to $670 MORE depending on number in your party. The additional amount included taxes, gratuity, and the ubiquitous "fees". Why or why can't quoted rates be just that? Also, if you have guests staying off site and they come for the day, there is a fee that can add up quite quickly.
All in all, a family friendly historic "lodge" (100 years old) with interesting antiques and framed newspaper clippings detailing the history of the place. Owners Bob and Susan always on site and super nice! They work 7 days a week. Patriotic 4th of July celebrations and decorations ~ appreciated.

Room Tip: Appreciated that the bathroom included antibacterial wet wipes for additional cleaning. I always forget to bring some with me for wiping down the room upon arrival (a bit germ conscious when staying in public places). Most small cabins are one room, plus bathroom, with a microwave and small fridge. Worked for us since hearty meals are provided AM & PM. Larger family group rented one of the homes with access from the road in front (but walkable across the property to the beach and lodge). That house smelled unpleasantly musty. Room in the lodge off the dining room was full of antiques including old clothing hanging on the walls (see pictures on website). A little too much clutter unless you want to be steeped in history.

Thank you for your great comments. We hope you had a memorable vacation despite the misunderstanding about the taxes.
We are putting it in larger, darker print on our web site under rates and our rate card which we wrongly assumed everyone read. Any misleading about the taxes and gratuity was purely unintentional and we will strive to better inform in advance.
We are old fashioned in taking checks only, we know, but all hotels have to charge these taxes. It's the law. You're so right, with a credit card, one would hardly notice until they were on the way home. I know, we say it every time we leave a hotel.
As for the gratuity, most are happy to leave a gratuity for great service and well kept grounds, but few do. So we charge that amount so that the staff, most of whom you never see, are compensated with bonuses for good work at the end of the summer. As it is all inclusive, this is the avenue to level the playing field.
We are always grateful for comments of any kind and you were so sweet to say all the good things as well as expressing your concerns. We fully appreciate your sentiments.
