We stay presidents weekend each year in a 4th floor condo in the Inverness building which is directly across from the main lodge. 4 adults and 4 kids was a bit of a squeeze but with two bathrooms we made it work just fine. The skiing here is great, hot chocolate at Slope Side or the Zoo Bar is the best. We also enjoyed the indoor/outdoor heated pool at night. Housekeeping was always good and brought extra towels etc as needed. Checkin/our was a breeze and we used the shuttle service a lot especially with our small kids. Ski school is also great, we did multi day private and group lessons for the kids and were amazed at their progress in a couple days. We ate dinner at Slope Slide one evening which was jam packed but fun with good food and drinks and great staff. Otherwise we did all meals in the condo. Very convenient location.

We were here for a wedding last Autumn and stayed a week. The leaves were approaching full peak and the grounds were well groomed. The hotel looks like an old mansion and is covered with ivy. The hotel staff was warm and friendly and did everything possible to ensure the perfect memories. The rooms were very comfortable. Rates were low and and the crowds were down. It was a nice relaxing time to visit with plenty to do within the property and in the surrounding hamlets. The pool was nice and the hot tub was refreshing. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the ski area.

Recently moved back to Michigan and visited Boyne Highlands for first time in 10 years.
It was VERY cold but snow was great and not crowded during the week. Grooming was excellent. The inside hallways had been re-opened and the Boyne breakfasts are some of the best anywhere. Our omelets cooked to order were delicious and they have someone to cook your special waffles and pancakes also. Lots of fruit, pastries plus large buffet and a separate oatmeal station. Make sure and look around to find everything. They have greatly improved the hot tub area, now it probably holds 30 people or more and no slippery stairs to get there. Wonderful coffee shop plus store in lobby. The skiing with the ski check is so convenient, trully ski in/ ski out. The new robes in the rooms were a very nice touch. Can't wait to go back. Great rates of lift tickets as their website links up with Liftopia if you can buy in advance.

Boyne Highlands is the sister property for Boyne Mountain. If you purchase a multi day pass at one, it can be used interchangeably at either place. Boyne Highlands tends to be a lot less busy than Boyne Mountain and is nice if you don't like constantly dodging people on the slopes. The have a great lodge with live music on the weekends (Zoo Bar) and a Slopeside lounge with great pizza! It's also right across the street from Nub's Nob so it's easy to stay at Boyne Highlands and ski at both if you purchase tickets from each.

This was my first trip to Boyne Highlands to see my wife and kids ski. Our room in the Heather was more of a townhouse and was gorgeous. It could sleep 10 if necessary; we really enjoyed it. There was also a lot of help around in the bars and restaurants and the ski school instructors were great.

My wife usually brought our girls up alone and would send me picturess of bagpipers and other Highland images (I am a bagpiper with Scottish roots) from inside the Slopeside bar (shouldn't it be called a pub or something with the Highland genre?). I think there was a fire last year that may have destroyed some of the lodge and everything was redone but now there is no character. Even the Zoo bar was just a huge open expanse with no charm. Hopefully they will change that.

I did feel, as well, that there wasn't enough room to accommodate all the guests. the Slopeside bar was packed all weekend with people hovering over the tables waiting for you to leave and the bathrooms in the lodge were surprisingly worn out and tiny (always a line for the women any time of day). Also, the main dining room always had 20 people waiting for breakfast. We ate "community style" just to get a seat one day.

The ski valet lost our rental skis once and almost a second time, which caused a lot of angst running back and forth to the rental office. There's got to be a better way. Many people brought their skis into the hotel, which I thought was a no no.

Maybe it was the holiday weekend so we will shoot for another time of year next time.
