If you have a chance to see an opera or dance production at the Detroit Opera House, you will be in for a treat. I have traveled around Europe and attended opera and dance performances there and have found that Michigan Opera Theatre, which is in the Detroit Opera House, offers world class operas and dance. The acoustics are superb, the theatre was lovingly resorted to it's turn of the century majestic beauty and the productions are amazing. Don't miss it!

If you like opera or have always wanted to see what opera is, the Detroit Opera House is conveniently located and well worth the time and money. The building is wonderful, with "grand" lobbies and stage. Translations of the singers' words are displayed above the stage, so there is no confusion for those of us who are not well familiar with the storylines. It is a wonderful place to satisfy the urge for an elegant evening out.

I have been to the Detroit Opera House several times for both opera and dance performances. The venue is beautiful and their performance offerings are varied. If you are between 18-40 try their Access program which offers discounted tickets to younger patrons. Parking for the facility is convenient with a structure right next door.

We attended the New Years Eve evening performance of Wicked. We had box seats. This is a beautiful venue - velvet, chandeliers, ornate details etc. The only minus is there is only one restroom for men and women which makes intermission interesting.

Once upon a time, Detroit was the "it" place. The roaring 1920's with big mo ney, mo town just cranking up. The money built places like the Detroit Opera House which is very glamerous. Recent restorations make it just as beautiful.
