We returned to Hazel Bank this week to celebrate my wife’s 70th birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay once again. Despite the national heatwave we did have quite a lot of cloud, mist and drizzle but that can’t dampen our enjoyment of both the Lake District and Hazel Bank. The day we left was stunningly beautiful, of course, and we enjoyed a short walk along the Derwentwater Lake path before heading for home. Many thanks to Donna, Gary and Marie for looking after us so well and to Paul for his work in the kitchen to create such excellent vegetarian food for us.
Hope to return soon.

Room Tip: They’re all good but some have really good views, just enjoy the comfort and the quiet.

We have become addicted to this place for being spoiled by wonderful hosts (Gary and Donna) and great food by chef David. Staff member Maisie very helpful too. Very comfortable rooms. Such a wonderful location for walks or peace and quiet taking in the excellent views. Thank you all very much. See you next time.

The setting is beautiful, the rooms lovely, and the food, drink and service amazing. Nothing is too much trouble, the staff and other guests are friendly. Thank you Gary and Donna for another lovely stay, with sunshine and a red squirrel to make it perfect. See you again next year.

Gary, Donna, David, Maisie and Joel, thank you all for such a wonderful break. This was our third visit to Hazelbank, although we have been visiting the Lake District and Rothswaite for several decades. The weather was perfect - every bit as warm as the Continent. The welcome from Donna accompanied by tea and her wonderful shortbread biscuits after our long drive was very much appreciated. Drinks on the lawn before dinner each evening was a bonus and we were able to use the beautifully decorated lounge after dinner to relax, talk to other guests and enjoy coffee. The red squirrels that play outside the dining room provided some of the entertainment, while Gary the co-owner provided the rest. David and Donna created amazing food for our meal each evening, the lamb has to be the best we have ever tasted. Maisie and Joel waited on us in the dining room and engaged in conversation when encouraged. Hazelbank is a warm and comfortable hotel, elegant and welcoming. Walking conditions were perfect and we have come home with so many happy memories.

Room Tip: I am sure every room is beautiful, although the ones at the front have the best views.

We have been staying in Keswick the past 12 days and as our holiday draws to a close thought it would be good to eat out somewhere nice.
Hazel Bank is somewhere we follow on Twitter and the location always looks amazing. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Gary and welcomed into the comfortable lounge for pre dinner drinks. It is a set menu but when the cooking is this good it is not an issue at all.
It is all very relaxed whilst still being extremely professional and you feel very well looked after.
All the food we had was excellent especially the quality of the pork loin for the main course and the mascarpone cheesecake was heavenly. Thank you for a great evening - we will be back.
