My wife and I stayed here for a weekend break. This converted country manor is nestled deep in the Borrowdale valley, high up on its own estate complete with Crochet lawn and gardens. The staff and owners are warm, friendly, and helpful, giving travel tips, sharing local secrets, and presenting impeccable service.
The food in the restaurant is worthy of a Michelin star, and the bespoke rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and serenely quiet. I am a light sleeper, troubled by noise in most hotels. I have never slept so well as I did my two nights here. The most I ever heard were the birds outside, which in summer, is lovely and peaceful.
I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. You are made to feel welcome, treated to luxury and exceptional service, and in a stunning location in easy reach of all the main areas of the Lake District.
I look forward to returning to this hotel the next time we head to the Lakes.More
