Came early during the week with two small kids. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, interacted with my kids and always available to top off our coffees etc. To us, the food was just OK, we’ve definitely had better breakfasts elsewhere on the Cape. I would return however due to the staff and atmosphere. Maybe I’ll just try something else on the menu! Looks like the place fills up, so if you’re not there early there will be a wait.

There was quite a wait, especially for a rainy weekday, but it was absolutely worth the wait! EVERYTHING we ordered was just fantastic! If you haven't been yet, you need to stop here. Definitely a must!

Red Cottage is basically a diner-style old-time restaurant with excellent food and service. My 2 sons, wife and I sat at the counter, but tables were also available. We had an assortment of items including 1/2 lb lobster roll, cinnamon french toast, 1/4 lb lobster omelette, and hash and home fries. All was excellent, including service. Overall an excellent local food experience. Only criticism I had was that coffee was not very strong, but it was fresh. All visiting Cape Cod should try this local experience. Cash only but an ATM is on premises.

Cash only...cash only... there - that's the only downside, but that's workable, as long as you know upfront. Thee is an ATM right there so...all is good.
Where do I even start. Okay, imagine please.... If you were to somehow combine real old New England charm, non-pretentious style, impeccably clean....Now, think about food that is made with every bit of love, pride, attention to detail and no shortcuts - you know, the way grandmother cook. Add to that, true culinary excellence, training and experience that a chef brings... Now stir all of those attributes together, and you've got The Red Cottage. It's like going to the best uptown Manhattan eatery, and going to eat at your best friends grandma's kitchen. It is a unique place that embraces the best of everything. The old traditional recipes are on the menu, and they do them right. They also have the most exquisitely flavorful selections that you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Like any real yankee kitchen. They use local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. They do incredible things with lobster...and they do it right. You can watch the open kitchen as your food is being prepared.
The food is amazing. The wait can be a long one. But, when they tell you an estimate of how long the wait will be, remember that they dont put an egg timer on tables and make people get up snd leave whrn their time runs out. It is not easy to judge how long it will take people to eat and leave. Anyone can only try to figure how long a table usually takes...so for the obnoxious review writers who were displeased at the wait time and it took longer than expected....well, no one lit a firecracker under their seats to get them out for the next customer...just sayin'....
The wait can be a while in the summer. Franny, that might be a tip off that's it's really good. Particularly since it's a little out of the way, and people wouldn't just stumble on it. Then, look at the license plates in the lot. Look at the dealer logis of where the vehicles were bought...or beach and dump stickers. The lot is always chock-a-block filled with locals! If you want fast...go to a drive thru. When I want a good meal, I come here. They even serve dinner up until labor day. The prices are not expensive but they aren't cheap. They are fair. My mouth is watering....
Just remember... cash only!!!
