Description: Celebrating our 30th anniversary, the historic 1840 Captain Linnell House is home to Cape Cod's most distinguished fine dining restaurant as well as an award winning Cape Cod wedding, rehearsal dinner, and corporate venue site. We are located in Orleans, MA around the corner from Skaket Beach, a picturesque setting for a Cape Cod beach wedding ceremony. The Captain Linnell House is chef owned and offers expertly prepared classic fare - from iced Wellfleet oysters, escargot and baby kale salad, to entrees of rack of lamb, Black Angus prime rib, roast duckling with fresh raspberries, scrod n' parchment, and much more. We go as local and organic as possible. A three course $35.00 Prix Fixe Menu is offered from Mid-September thru June. Enjoy dining in one of our unique dining rooms. Our garden room looks out over a spacious lawn with the sunset in the distance. Fireplaces grace the other two. We are off the beaten path but finding us is memorable!

We have dined on the Cape for close to 50 years, and this restaurant is one of our all time favorites. Elegant dining room with a lovely garden view including a bubbling fountain with small pond and lush greenery. We both love seafood so we choose the Bouillabaisse for our entries. The portion size was more than generous including white fish, little neck clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops in a tomato based sauce, Exquisite! The wine list is extensive and not overly pricey. We shared the "Skaket Mess" for dessert, a delightful blend of fruit and cream. The wait staff was attentive even though the restaurant was very busy the evening we dined. We highly recommend this special restaurant and look forward to returning.

We go to Captain Linnell House twice each year when we vacation on the Cape. It is always our special dinner out and it has never failed over the years. The prime rib was superb. The wine, excellent. The table overlooking the garden is just a delight. The wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable. We look forward to our trips to the Cape and the wonderful dinners at Captain Linnell House.

A lovely traditional inn with snazzy club-like Cape decor; two beautiful dining rooms; we were in one facing the beautiful garden fountain complete with lily pads with the orange and pink colors of the Cape Cod Bay sunset in the distance through a break. Excellent professional service and very reasonable wine list. An expansive menu with plenty of local seafood choices as well as steaks and one of the evening specials, a delicious, perfectly cooked prime rib. Enjoyed the lobster bisque, a less thick iteration than many places; but flavorful with a dash of bourbon. The Pearl Salad was a tasty three variety of small tomatos salad with morsels of mozzarella and basel....perfect end of summer flavors. The veal milanese was tender veal with capers, almost piccata style but for the heavier brown sauce. Huge portions. The full rib was served with a full plate of steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes and squash, more than even the heaviest eater could contemplate; and the veal came with a literal mountain of fettucine along with veggies. There are two reasons I’m not giving it a “5”, the first being that we thought both mains were a bit heavy on the salt; the second being that they are clear that entrees cannot be split, period. They are more than happy to package your leftovers, which is fine if you are a local with a kitchen, but didn’t work for us. In today’s world, as you get older, you tend not to have the huge appetite you once did, and we like to split things sometimes since it is a pure waste of food and our money, to have to order full apps and $30 plus-entrees; as many local restaurants have adapted to with menus with smaller plates and no problems with sharing; especially when you order drinks and a bottle of wine. So we very enjoyed our meal, and will return, with those two caveats. Nice atmosphere, very accomodating professional staff. Very good food, just too much of it for us, and cut the salt back a bit!

What a shame this special restaurant will be closing in 2020. What a shame we had not dined here before.....we went for our anniversary, sat by the window overlooking the charming little garden (highly recommend asking for a garden room window table), the atmosphere is very nice quaint old school formal, the food and service was excellent. We started with the lobster bisque and Appleton salad- both were fabulous, accopmpanied by Rebecca’s cosmo- on of the best cosmos ever. Our entrees were classic rack of lamb and prime rib - both very good with tasty classic creamy mashed potatoes and squash. The wine was excellent. We shared and enjoyed the mini chocolate moulten cake with mint choc chip ice cream for dessert. The service was fiendly, professional, attentive. Capt Linnell is one of just a handful of excellent special occasion restaurants on the cape. A totally enjoyable experience. It is truly a shame it will be closing in 2020 (we’re told the retiring owners have a deal with the historical society for the building)..... we will certainly make sure we return before then.

The experience from start to finish was a pleasure. Shelly made the planning easy, was helpful throughout, and choreographed the evening flawlessly. The dinner was delicious, and the clam chowder was raved over. Everything exceeded expectations, from the garden wedding, to the fun cocktail hour with delicious passed hor d'oevres (only regret is not tasting every variety) to dinner and dancing. A lovely setting and a friendly, competent staff made for a wedding that will be remembered fondly by all who attended for years and years. Thank you!!
