Fuji Steakhouse offer a wonderful hibachi dining experience, especially for families with children.
My wife and I and his California grandmother, took our grandson, Jonah, to Fuji as a special treat upon his 8th grade graduation. It was a great dining experience for us all.
Fuji is similar to a lot of other hibachi based Japanese-style restaurants. A Japanese chef stands behind a hot grill, with diners seated around a horses how shaped table surrounding their grill on threes sides.
The chef puts on a cooking performance, spraying oil on the grill with a great display of flames. He juggles cooking utensils to show his prowess. Our chef really entertained by cutting small pieces of chicken and tossing them a few feet into the diners' open mouths (some hits, some misses.)
Our food was cooked in front of us; everything from fried rice to vegetables, meats and fish. All of our meals were cooked to perfection.
The hibachi dishes included a bowl of Japanese onion soup (miso soup could be substituted on request), a tasty salad with a ginger dressing, white rice, the meat, shrimp or fish hibachi entree and vegetables.
The portions were fairly large and all tasted quite good.
Prices ranged from $16.95 for a vegetarian special, to $17.95 for hibachi chicken (my dish) to salmon ($22.95) to filet Mignon at $24.95. The restaurant throws in three delicious grilled shrimp as an "appetizer" before each meal.
The quality of the shrimp, chicken, salmon and beef were all visibly excellent.
This isn't inexpensive dining. But, it is a very good value, considering all you get; great food plus a dining event.
I recommend the Fuji Steak House as an excellent place to dine in Needham.
