We had dinner at the Blantyre restaurant one night when we stayed there. It is very relaxing to sit in the drawing room and have a cocktail by the fire while you chose your dinner selections. Our martinis were excellent - nice and dry and served in chilled crystal glasses that are not your usual martini glass at all! Very heavy and elegant. Linen cocktail napkins. Dinner is a 3 course prix fix, and all our choices were delicious - the tuna tartar and lobster for the first course and quail with foie gras for the second course. My husband had the veal tenderloin for the third course - it was the most amazing thing I have tasted and I wished I had gotten it as well. Completely tender and cooked to perfection. My monkfish wrapped in bacon was good, but not awesome. We had a reasonably priced bottle of Sancerre - yummy! - and a delicious chocolate dessert, followed by coffee in the drawing room. Staff were delightful, the flowers beautiful, and the setting and decor oozed old world charm. The napkins, china, silverware, glasses and chairs were all of superior quality. A very special evening and memorable meal. Not your typical dinner at all.
