Lovely, memorable spot 20 mins from Williams College. The cottage is full of history, comfortable and well equipped. Even the one bathroom setup exceeded our expectations.
Thanks for sharing!
this is a one of a kind experience. we loved it. Owners are super nice and were always promptly available. Location is perfect: a silent road, yet close to skiing, excellent food, and not far from the art centers at Williamstown and North Adams. The place itself is the big surprise -- a kind of time travel. Totally worthwhile. And very exciting for kids!
Private and peaceful. Located where many cultural activities are available.Caring hosts. Our 2nd year!
My boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday weekend at the cottage. We had a rough start the day we were to arrive and Cheryl was just wonderful and so understanding. We were delayed by hours and knew we were going to arriving later than our checkin time. She was very accommodating and made sure that everything was ready for us by the time we arrived.
When we pulled up I was pleasantly surprised by how "off the beaten path" it was and it was perfect. Nestled in the quiet country of the Berkshires, we were surrounded by quiet. The cottage was adorable. The first floor is the old school house with it's constant reminders of what it was like to be a child in school back in the 1900s. I enjoyed reading the stories from the children, now adults, who attend the Stone School so many years ago. The upstairs was open and inviting. The kitchen had everything you could need and the bed was very comfortable. Cheryl and Rich have made sure that you are well informed of the many sights and attractions in around Lanesboro and everything is within a short driving distance.
We took Cheryl up on her recommendations of the Old Forge and Coyote Flaco for dinners and Bob's for breakfast, all were very delicious and reasonably priced. Mount Greylock is literally up the road and worth the visit. The Clark Museum is a must see also.
We look forward to visiting the cottage again when the weather is warmer as there is still so much yet to explore. If you have the time, stay here, you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I just returned from a fabulous weekend getaway in the Berkshires. We chose the Stone School Cottage but it's privacy, central location, and unique character. We were not disappointed! I loved it as soon as I walked in the door. Exactly as pictured, maybe even better. The owners greeted us briefly but otherwise left us to our business, after promising to be only a text away should we need anything. Along with the basic paper goods and toiletries, the cottage came with a cozy but functional kitchen (including microwave, Keurig, toaster), and helpful binders full of local restaurant and attraction info. There is a small market nearby and a Target not much further for any groceries you need. We only had one full day in our trip, but we packed it with local highlights, including a hike at Mount Greylock and a visit to the Clark art museum. The cottage was perfectly located to explore the various towns in the area, and we even took a quick jaunt over the border into Vermont just because it was there. Overall we are very happy with our experience and will recommend the Stone School to friends!
