Very well managed and clean motel. Morning breakfast snacks including bagel and cream cheese. It also has a great donut shop next door.

The bed sheets were 310tpi (photo) so you know the owner has an appreciation for quality.

Bed had a quiet supportive mattress. Room had quiet baseboard heating and good WiFi performance.

Lighting was warm but a bit dim except at bedside.

We look forward to a return trip.

We stayed for one night in September during a 15 property/21 night New England road trip, so this review is relatively objective.

Easily found just out of town - a 30 minute walk to the centre.

Plenty of parking and a friendly, helpful owner.

We secured a quiet, large, clean and comfortable room (compared to others in the locality) at a reasonable price. Other rooms viewed were smaller - and cheaper !

A coffee maker was supplied on request.

We didn't eat breakfast.

Several eateries are within a few minutes walk.

Patchy wifi.

Excellent rating is for this type of accommodation rather than indicating a luxurious resort type hotel.

If you've read the other reviews on this motel you'll see a recurring theme of people raving about this place. I'll tell ya, it was really nice! My most favorite part is that they ask people to be considerate of the other who are staying there who just want to relax. There was a couple there visiting from California and another from France who were heading to NY to visit family the next day. You'd think we had the place to ourselves, it was so quiet and peaceful. Great service from the new owners, nice small touches in the rooms that we noticed. They really care about the quality of the motel and are attentive to details. Breakfast was pretty straight forward. Cereal, bagels, coffee, milk, cream. I do wish they had a toaster for the bagels though. This motel is easy to find and is close to many restaurants and shops. Bed was very comfortable and wifi worked fine. We would suggest this place for couples, families, and as a great place to rest if you are traveling a long distance somewhere. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Another excellent stay at the Lantern House. Regarding the title of this review, I mean that literally. I make several trips a year out to the Berkshires from Boston. It's to the point now that if the Lantern House isn't available, then I just plan my trip for another time. Always comfortable and clean, this place is perfectly located on Route 7. Centrally located for day trips anywhere in Western Massachusetts, Eastern New York or North-West Connecticut. The grounds are well-maintained and the pool area is relaxing. The rooms are very comfortable, with a nostalgic feel for the great motels and motor lodges of days gone by. Hasu the owner is always welcoming and accommodating. In an area where bigger, fancier hotels charge exorbitant and rarely deserved room rates, the Lantern House is affordable and can always be counted on for a great stay.

We were section hiking the Appalachian Trail (AT) and stayed in this motel in August 2018. Despite a series of very poor cell phone connections, the owner was very helpful in assisting us in making reservations. Furthermore we accidentally left a power cord to an electronic device in the room. He had checked the room and called us shortly after we left enabling us to quickly retrieve the item.
