Visited on half price sushi night. We arrived around 5:00 and was seated on the deck on a great summer night. All I can say was sushi was excellent at a great price. Atmosphere and service was excellent as well. Will definitely go back.

We called in a reservation. That is a nice option. When we arrived, we were seated by a hostess at an outside table. Beginning to relax and chat, and then a server came by with the tact of a kamikaze pilot and barked at us "there's somebody sitting here -- they weren't supposed to clear the table!" And as quickly as she barked at us, she marched off in a huff. So we sat there feeling dumb and confused about what to do next. Shortly another server came by and said, "You can't have this table! You shouldn't have been seated here!" I very politely and meekly said that we had just been told that but weren't sure what we were supposed to do. "Do you want us to leave the table? Do you have somewhere else to seat us?" The servers (two females -- both working the outside) were in high anger mode and they were taking it out on us. Here's what should have happened: the server(s) should have gone to the hostess or the manager and then the hostess or manager could have calmly and politely explained the snafu and then asked us politely to relocate. Instead we got two heaping helpings of hit and run anger without any suggested remedy and no courtesy. So...we stood up and ambled back inside as the manager on duty scrambled to give us a sticky table inside. Yes, they were clearly busy and hustling, but the whole thing made us feel unwelcome. So then, our server (a guy -- Ben -- we've had him before -- he's great) ran up and did his best to take our orders and bring us our food and beverages. The drinks came up fast and were great. The kitchen was backed up and the food took a really long time. When we did get it, it was good, but it was an excessive wait with nothing to nibble on. There was clearly some discontent going on between the kitchen, the servers and the front desk -- I know how these things can happen in a restaurant and it can be very stressful for the employees when no one seems to be on the same team. But this was really out of hand. I worry because we have loved the Studio and been regulars, but something was really wrong Sunday. Also, the embarrassment and inconvenience of being seated and then "unseated" -- especially in such a rude and awkward way -- should have been an automatic cue to buy us a round of drinks or discount the check -- something that would've shown concern for a quality experience. Not sure when I'll brave going back...hope things get better.

The Studio's outdoor bar and dining deck overlooks scenic Smith Cove. You can't go wrong with that. But the service has a lot of room for improvement. We visited on a Thursday night. It was half-price sushi- a big enticement as their sushi is excellent. The indoor bar wasn't crowded when we arrived, but as it filled up, one bartender couldn't keep up. On other visits we have had badly prepared mixed drinks (had to send them back); only OK food, and slow service. On this visit there were numerous parties sitting at the bar for 15 or 20 minutes without drinks. Overall I would still recommend it. Sit outside, enjoy the view and get sushi. The fish tacos are bland and disappointing. Have yet to find food on the regular menu that makes me want to go back again.

Decent place...nice deck. Clam chowder could use a pat of butter on top. Very good cucumber martini.

Went here for a late lunch and we were quickly escorted to a high top table directly on the water. Great spot. Our waitress came over and took drink orders, and allowed us time to read the extensive menu. We ordered and the food and it arrived hot, tasty and quickly. Noticed that others thought the service was poor. Relax people. You are not the only people in the restaurant. I did see a few cars parked outside from New York, so that could explain it!!! Kick back once in awhile and take in the scenery.

Dint be put off by the bad reviews. They buy only the freshest fish and shellfish. You will get the best of what Gloucester has to offer. In a hurry, get back on Route 128 and find a McDonalds.
