Description: The Gloucester House restaurant is renowned for its local lobster dishes and for the freshest North Atlantic seafood, prepared to perfection. Having been among the first to popularize fried calamari, our specialties range from award-winning clam chowder to homemade bread and cornbread, from Dottie's bourbon cake to Lily's wine list, and from Sambuca mussels to blackened haddock tacos to a fried fisherman's reuben sandwich. We always cook to order and have gluten free and vegetarian menus available, as well as children's meals. Dine full-service on our outdoor, dockside deck or eat lobsters in-the-rough on our harbor side wharf. Located on historic Seven Seas Wharf, there's something for everyone here: shop for souvenirs and local art at our General Store gift shop, enjoy a sail on the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon, or see the whales aboard Seven Seas Whale Watch. Whatever your fancy may be, the Linquata family invites you to join us year-round for a true taste of New England.

This place is a "must visit" every time I am in Gloucester! We love sitting out on the deck, watching the boats of all sorts come and go - from dories being rowed to the Lannon shoving off for a sail. Great drinks! Love the Onion Rings and the blackened haddock tacos! You won't be disappointed!

Every time we visit Gloucester we go for dinner here. Sadly disappointed that the dining room is not open and the only option was to “eat in the rough”. Food was meh and overpriced. View amazing as always.
Talking to some of the locals we heard that sometime in September the dining room will reopen but most, if not all, dining tables would be gone. The bar area is being extended and it appears they will be catering to the younger crowd, more of a bar business. They have also given up hosting events for weddings, baby showers, etc . And will be adding a coffee shop? Weird but ok.
We won’t be back. There are too many outstanding restaurants in this seaport town.

We had an expensive lack luster lunch at the outside area. We ordered our food- 2 clam chowders and a fried seafood plater to share. If you wanted a drink other than the limited soda or beer/wines selection in there frig upfront, you had to order at the table. Since it turned out the drinks were over priced- we ended up going back up to order drinks at the take out. We did most of our own work- went up to order, pick up our food, went back for the extra plate we originally asked for (they gave us one that was too small, but we made do), went to get our drinks. They still had suggested tip 15-25%, which seemed high due to the lack of service provided. The chowder was okay and the fried seafood very good- whole belly clams were delicious, but there was a ton of calamari, but not a lot of the other items and the fish fell apart. There are too many other places to go in the area- I wouldn’t go here again.
