Description: The Gloucester House restaurant is renowned for its local lobster dishes and for the freshest North Atlantic seafood, prepared to perfection. Having been among the first to popularize fried calamari, our specialties range from award-winning clam chowder to homemade bread and cornbread, from Dottie's bourbon cake to Lily's wine list, and from Sambuca mussels to blackened haddock tacos to a fried fisherman's reuben sandwich. We always cook to order and have gluten free and vegetarian menus available, as well as children's meals. Dine full-service on our outdoor, dockside deck or eat lobsters in-the-rough on our harbor side wharf. Located on historic Seven Seas Wharf, there's something for everyone here: shop for souvenirs and local art at our General Store gift shop, enjoy a sail on the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon, or see the whales aboard Seven Seas Whale Watch. Whatever your fancy may be, the Linquata family invites you to join us year-round for a true taste of New England.

We came to the Gloucester House for our anniversary dinner and it was lovely. Great food. Sangria was "eh" but I won't hold that against them. Will definitely come back!!

Hostess greeted us then immediately took a phone call and long order. She then offered us 2 choices of a really tight table for two or barside. We took barside, then as we were waiting, saw her clean a booth. Asked our waiter if we could move there, but then saw hostess seat someone else there as we were moving to it. Hostess then offered us next open booth. Sal the waiter was great. Food was mediocre, drowned in sauces, halibut burned and not cut up in salad at all. Not enough menu choices that aren't overwhelmingly heavy

We were honestly disappointed this visit. We hadn’t been here for about 7 years (during our last Gloucester vacation), and it just wasn’t as good as we remembered. The chowder was as good as we remembered, but the special for the night (linguine with white clam sauce) was disappointing. It was watering and pretty flavorless. Not sure what all the liquid was, but it certainly wasn’t the buttery sauce one expects in white clam sauce. A ton of grated parmesan cheese helped, but shouldn’t have been necessary. So maybe we just ordered the wrong thing. It happens. Lesson learned – stick to a house specialty, not a nightly special. I should mention however that the service was excellent. The hostess on duty that night was a jewel. It was obvious that she liked her job.

Alex, our waiter, was outstanding! He was courteous, informative, and efficient.
The Gloucester House is on a dock, so the view is wonderful.
The food was delicious. We figured out that a number of diners that Wednesday evening are regulars.
