Our family stayed here for a few nights during a visit to cape cod from the U.K.

Lots of positives - very well located for Falmouth Main Street and coast, complimentary breakfast, very friendly staff, large grounds, indoor and outdoor pools, decent sized room with fridge and coffee making facilities.

It seemed strangely quiet for cape cod in the middle of summer, but we were there mid week which may explain it.

WiFi available though not particularly strong.

The hotel sells itself on preserving things of the past, tradition and historic surroundings. A more critical view may say the decor etc is old fashioned and well in need of a refurb. Depends on your perspective.

Overall though we liked it, thought the location was great and we would stay again.

Worst place we stayed that I can remember. Good thing it's only for 1 night. We chose it based on the way it's advertised but what a surprise when we entered the Room they assigned. Room is really dated and the smell is really bad! What more can one say other than we won't be back!

We've stayed here over a dozen times over the years. The Cape, in general, is overpriced and usually Shoreway is above the fray. However, this time, the negatives were more apparent.

Pro's - the waitstaff is lovely as is Tammy at the front desk. The housekeeping staff keeps the rooms clean. We love the pools and they seem clean and well-maintained as are the gardens and grounds. The location is perfect. You don't need a car here since the town is walking distance.

Con's - The bathrooms are way overdue for gut rehabs. They are small and difficult to maneuver. Worse, is the internet service. In this day and age, it's inexcusable to have intermittent service. The place needs more boosters and a bigger capacity service. I'm sure it is fine when no one else is around but I paid a fortune in data overages on my cell since I couldn't get the wifi to work.

Breakfast also needs modernization. The choices were either carbs, sugar-laden yogurt or rubbery eggs. It isn't hard to offer better protein and fresh fruit, especially in the summer.

Fix the breakfast and internet problems and we'll be back.

Room tip: second floor pool house

We loved staying here. The rooms were quaint and cozy and it was like slipping back to the 60’s or 70’s. Our suite was spacious and we had a full kitchen.

This hotel offers a full breakfast buffet which is delicious. I got a bit addicted to the pistachio muffins! This meal set us up for the day it was so generous!

The staff are friendly, helpful and can’t do enough to help you.

The only downside was the flaky WiFi - sometimes it worked, sometimes not. I could get a signal in the main hotel though so it was fine. This wouldn’t prevent us from staying here again though - we loved it!

The location is excellent- 2 minute walk to Main St and a 10 minute walk to the beach. What more could you want?

Thank you especially to Paula, Stephen and Andree who brightened our mornings. We hope to return and see you again in the future!
