Nice place with good service and good food.

Famous for fried pickles, which were very good.

Located on Main street in Falmouth. After lunch we strolled down to the Congregational church on the common. It has a bell made by Paul Revere.

The Pickle Jar was recommended to me by several folks I met in Falmouth, and they were not wrong. I went there for lunch and had a lovely and delicious meal, and everything was really, really fresh. I tried the Nobska Light sandwich (smoked salmon with lots of great pairings) and it was great. I also loved the pickled veggies served with it, enough to by a large container to bring home. The ginger molasses cookies were also delicious - crisp and very tasty. I will be going back to the Pickle Jar very soon.

What a wonderful operation! They know what they want to do and they do it exceptionally well. You might say they specialize in good food and good service.

Taken together, what else is important?

First off, know that breakfast is served ONLY until 11 AM and no one is seated between 11 and 11:30.and the entire menu changes. We were seated at 11:30 for lunch, started with the fried pickles, which are unusual but delicious. We then ordered 2 roast beef sandwiches which were pedestrian at best. Oh well...

Stop here because I saw it on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and looked interesting. First it is none of the three choices. Had mainly sandwich selections to pick from for lunch and none sounded that great. The 'sammies' were disappointing cold sandwiches and the Firehouse was anything but spicy. All in all the menu was a disappointment but service and quality saved it from being anything lower than an average lunch restaurant.
