Beautiful beach with great sand and water. Waves were variable depending on wind, but my kids were able to boogie board and jump in the waves most days. We stayed at Menemsha Inn so received a "walk on" pass with our stay. Since we were only on island a few days we did not pay the fee for the parking pass (I believe $85). Instead we dropped off at the beach and parked in a trailhead located off of South Rd (to the east). Short 10min walk away. Not sure if this arrangement is legit for long periods of time, we only stayed at beach for ~3 hrs.

We went once and kept going back. There was something for everyone -- waves for big kids, but not too big for little kids, beautiful sand, perfect vibe.

A couple of tips: get there early. Before 11:00 if you can. That way you can definitely get in without waiting.

Bring food for the day.

People are friendly and welcoming.

Plan getting a beach pass before you go. Order the pass on line and save yourself a bunch of time.

So, go. Go often. Have fun.

This is a beach designated for Chilmark residents. We obtained our pass from the Beach Plum Inn. Not many reviews here due to the restrictions, but if you can obtain a pass, it's worth a few hours of relaxation. Beautiful rock formations, small cliff dunes, crashing waves, and fog that rolls in and out, in and out.

We rented a house in Chilmark and so were able to wait the 45 minutes at the Chilmark town hall to get a car and walk-on passes for this beach. I don't recall what it cost, sorry.

Nice beach. Some areas have large rocks in the water so you'll want to avoid body-surfing the waves in those places.

If you have a walk-on pass, you can get dropped off at the check-in point to the parking lot, and walk on to the beach.

I did not see any food stands, which helps keep the beach quiet and clean - but bring your own food and water and shelter (umbrella and chair).

Now that I think about it, having a pair of water shoes would be good for all the beaches I visited on Martha's as you never know when there'll be a mess of rocks underfoot.

So scenic and beautiful. Nice waves and sand. Lots of pretty stones and shells. Good spot for sunset pics or even a wedding.
