“Feel like you are part of history”
Reviewed 10 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The owners of the Harrison House have taken great pains to make you feel part of history. St Michaels is all about the period around the War of 1812, and this house dates from well before then. It has been carefully restored in accordance with the 1812 period, and the furnishings and decorations are consistent with the history. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern. The house can accommodate a lot of people. It is located about 3 blocks from the center of town, yest is rught on the water- a great combination.

“What a wonderful historic and beautiful house”

We booked the property thru the internet and saw only photos in advance. The owners were responsive and met us upon arrival. We had a family wedding with multiple family members and guests who came and went during the wedding weekend. We found the location excellent, a short walk to town, rehearsal dinner, lunch out on the dockside, 5 minutes to the Church, etc. We had cousins and other family members in the two adjoining cottages nearby which only added to the enjoyment. My husband loved the boats in the harbor and the history of the town. We will go back often as we had never visited St. Michaels prior and loved both the charm and the friendliness of the townspeople. This was a wonderful house to have had a chance to stay in. Thank you to Thomas and Amanda for making it so memorable.

“Beautiful house unfit for rental”
Reviewed 21 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

This is a very beautiful house, beautifully decorated, in a very beautiful spot. But it is not suitable for rent. Despite being advertised as able to accommodate 11 guests, when only two people initially were staying, using normal amounts of toilet paper, sewage erupted out of the toilet all over the first floor. This was a wedding weekend. Fortunately the four other guests arrived to help mop up the floating excrement shortly before leaving for the rehearsal dinner. No plumber could be located. Eventually, the police came out to help take charge. The sewage repair people arrived at 8.00 a.m.on the wedding day and managed to break the water main, so water was cut off from the house until 2 p.m. We had no toilet use (we had to rely on the goodwill of the Acme Supermarket staff), no pre-wedding showers, no tap water to drink. The house stank. The sewage pump, operating till 2 in the afternoon created a recorded 92 decibels of noise, rendering sitting in any front room or on the front porch impossible. One of our guests had flown 44 hours to be at this wedding and was unable to catch up on sleep. The housekeeper who came to check on the drama told us the sewage company had been called out for the same problem just the week before.

Management Response
1 Oct 2016
The review of the house is completely inappropriate since the problem that occurred was due to a County sewer line failure- off of the house property and under the public street, and the renters were well aware of this. We were sorry the problem occurred but it was beyond our control. As soon as we became aware that a toilet had overflowed and it was determined to be a County sewer line problem, the County officials were contacted and the workmen were there promptly and worked late into the evening, and then again early in the morning to restore service. Further, our staff worked well into the evening cleaning up the renters waste that that had overflowed onto the floor due to the failure of the County line. Rather than being thanked, the staff was treated rudely by the renters. It is obviously unfortunate that the toilet overflowed due to the County line failure, but to review the house harshly and treat the staff rudely there to clean up the renters waste, is wrong. Further, there is no front porch and no sewage company had been called out the week prior.

This house is the most popular vacation rental house in St. Michaels (almost 25 years operating as such), and of the thousands of people who have stayed at the house over the years, I can count on one hand the number of complaints.

“Location,Big Historic House,Great Views..AWESOME FAMILY FUN!!”
Reviewed 3 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

So much fun and great memories had in the Harrison House.
Location to town and marina...FANTASTIC! We stayed for 11 days!
House has so much character and a great level back yard for soccer or football or just a game of catch.Beautiful mature trees, Great BBQ grill for a nice cookout, 4 excellent rocking chairs under a lovely covered porch. Just about every room has a water view.
One thing you must remember is that this is an old home with lots of character, not some modern new building..2 bedrooms are en suite. One upstairs full bathroom to be shared, and a nice 1/2 bath downstairs.
A great big kitchen with a farm table for breakfast, and a lovely dining room table with plenty of seating for a fun family and friends dinner.
Park your car and walk to everything.
We were there for 11 days and didn't need to use the car once.
Grocery store is 1 block away..restaurants, awesome stores, funky galleries, great ice-cream parlors..Marina and bars :)
Nice little gazebo and park near house that is open to the public where they have Summer music events every Thursday night.
This house was perfect for us and we will be back!
The only bad thing was the nasty neighbor next door whom has the house with the double decker porch. I was outside in the evening(6pm) feeding the duck with my 6 year old son when this man came out and said "Son can't you read? The sign says..this is private property, get off of my land"..this to a 6 year old..my son had no idea, and we were not on his grass, but on the edge of the dock near the water. This mans home is so beautiful, too bad such an UGLY,NASTY TWIT of a person lives there! I saw a man very early in the morning walking a black lab. the dog pooped (HUGE Doo-Doo)on this mans lawn..and he didn't pick it up..BRAVO to the well fed Black Lab! Here's hoping that man stepped in it with his bare feet! Karma is a B*itch man!
