Tucked away in a residential neighborhood with a basic exterior is Siam Spice.

Overall the food was good, my wife had the duck, and felt it was too gamey. I had the whole fried flounder with the three sauce option on the side, most of the fish was fried well and the sauce definitely enhances the flavor.

The wait staff were friendly and food prep time was fast. Suggested improvements include better lighting, changing the flooring (carpet looked worn), and updating the exterior.

Ordered chicken larb, chicken satay, shrimp red curry, vegetable drunken noodles and chicken fried rice. The curry and noodles were really good - lots of flavor and spice. The other dishes were ok. The restuarant is hidden away, so not exactly in the best location. Our waitress was super nice and attentive!

We came as a big group for lunch one day and they were not ready for that many people. Still, the food was amazing and it was good friendly service. They have a stocked bar. The spring rolls are good and hand made. I got the Gang Ped Yang - the Duck curry. It was a lovely dish. The curry and duck actually go together well. It's not my favorite curry and this was a delight. People enjoyed their dishes I was with.

To my knowledge, this is the only remaining Thai restaurant in the Columbia area. Ownership has changed since it was called bangkok garden, about two years ago.

This is good standard Thai fare. If you like coconut soup, or panang curry, or drunken noodles, you will like them here too. There is no exotic "with special lemongrass reduction" or something--it's just standard good Thai food. The service is reasonable, but not perfect. The decor is, well, cheesy--vinyl banquettes with thai travel posters under the glass on the tables. But it's not a distraction from the food. Portions are large, and prices are a little higher than what I'd expect.

BEWARE--take their indicators of heat very seriously. Four stars is native heat and to me not really edible. With one star, you know it's there and it brings out the flavors. The rest is up to you.

Also, they can make all dishes vegetarian, without fish sauce.
