Rented for 1 week, my daughter and sister stayed at the cottage for one night with me and my Mom. The rest of the week I stayed with my Mom. We had a great time, very comfortable place. Had everything you could ever need available right at your fingertips. John and Susan were so very nice and have a wonderful place and very nice taste. I would recommend, "short walk to Long Shores" and hope to have the benefit to go back another time in the future. " Best stay ever"!
The owner thought of almost everything and even left a bottle of wine in the fridge. Enjoyed the screened porch every night and it really is a short walk to long sands. I would definitely recommend this cottage and may book it again for next summer. Thanks for a wonderful vacation
We all loved our stay at "Short walk to Long Sands cottage".The beach is a two minute walk away, and town is a five minute walk. Both are enjoyable walks, with nice views. The cottage is spacious with fresh updates and very clean. Everything you need with a lot of extras, games, books, and movies (bring your own aux cord for computer movies). The screened in porch was nice for quiet coffee in the mornings and games in the evenings. Linens were fresh, and there was plenty of cookware, dishes and utensils. The bathroom was well equipped with anything you may need for your stay. The landlords are friendly, and made us feel welcome and at home. They had a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival and accommodated us with a bucket of ice for our drinks. There are a lot of things close by this cottage on a private drive. Uptown you can find Woody's pizza oven (so good!) stop by the little purple house for breakfast, they give generous portions at a very affordable price. The Candy Corner has the best fudge! Short Sands beach is right uptown great for kids with calm surf. Even 1 dollar bowling in town. There is amazing kayaking through the marshes nearby (15 min). The famous Marginal Way walk up the road 15 minutes with amazing views. Kittery Trading post outlet shopping for rainy days. Ogunquit Beach is 15 minutes up the road with absolutely gorgeous views and powder sands and great sand bar swimming for children. At the end of the street you can hop on a Trolly and ride it uptown for 2 dollars. Nubble Light lighthouse is a must see! While there, stop into Fox's Lobster house for a nice meal, then head to Dunes ice cream for a huge treat. Long Sands is a very large family friendly clean beach, with a lot of tide pools on either end that you can explore. You can find crabs, lobster, starfish and urchins (but always return them back to their home :) please).
Very clean owners where warm and welcoming greater us with a beer and wine when we arrived made us feel like a very important guest wheather was great I love York beach
We had a great week at this cottage in YBM. John and Sue, the owners, were very friendly and helpful (They live next door). Everything we needed, besides food and drink, was supplied at the cottage. John and Sue met us on Saturday afternoon and explained the ins an outs. They have updated/refurbished the cottage and have made it quite comfy and cute. It was a very hot week, so we really appreciated having ac in the cottage. We would highly recommend the cottage and look forward to renting it again.
