I have reviewed Fore Street before but it is worth another review. We have eaten in some very good restaurants including Del Posto in NYC and the Cayotte Cafe in Sante Fe but we think Fore Street has them beat. We arrived early for our recent reservation and were seated early. The exposed brick and beam interior is beautiful, comfortable and warm. Our server was friendly, attentive and helpful. The food.... It is fantastic. I had the seafood sampler platter which included scallops, smoked muscles and halibut. The flank steak was cooked perfectly and my wife had lamb which was the best lamb either of us had ever had. Even the cocktails are well balanced and creative. It is a little expensive but you get your money's worth. If you like good food this place never fails - we eat here ever time we come to Portland.
