What a great place. I highly recommend this Inn. The owner was friendly, the bed super comfy, everything was beautiful clean and functioning. My favorite thing was the heated bathroom floor; so nice on a foggy morning. There's lots to see in DownEast Maine: gorgeous views and hikes. Stay here. Clean and cozy.

Six nights in six different locations and the Margaretta Inn was my absolute favorite place. (The others were all big chain hotels.) The Margaretta Inn is beautiful, clean, with great service and the friendliest staff. The rooms are perfect with huge beds that allowed for the deepest of sleeps. The former title was apparently the Margaretta Motel and is now the Margaretta Inn, and that's not just someone trying to make it sound more dressed up. It truly is better than just an average 'motel'. Out of five stars? I'd prefer to give it a ten.

Very friendly owners with great customer service! Very clean and tidy rooms with frig and microwave. Nice shower, hot water, very quiet with Keurig coffee maker. Comfortable bed and good WiFi and TV. Would highly recommend!

Eastern Maine is very beautiful, and, if you know where to look, there is excellent food; however, modern, comfortable lodging is rather scarce, This motel was gutted and completely refitted with first-rate beds, bathrooms with great showers--and soundproofing. Although route one is only 50 yards away, you cannot hear it. The management and help are polite and helpful. Best motel we've ever stayed in, and the price is very reasonable. You will like it!

Room tip: They all are about the same--very good. The only differences seem to be in bed configurations. Book ahead of time, as the Margaretta is being discovered by discerning travelers.

Modernized motel, very nice rooms and bathrooms and friendly helpful staff. Appreciated the advice on restaurants we followed it and had a great diner. The town is very picturesque and I recommend a nice stroll along the shore at the end of the day, the light is incredible.

Thank you so much for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and had the chance to enjoy the outdoors while in Machias. Downeast sunsets are one in a million!
