I headed to Jameson Tavern for a lobster dinner at the recommendation of the front desk staff at my hotel. I was not disappointed!
Jameson Tavern dates back to the late 1700s, and there’s a nice vibe in the bar and dining room. Not too stuffy, not too historic, just a super comfortable place to visit and order drinks and/or dinner. It’s not fancy – no table cloths or fancy table settings – but it fits.
I ordered a 1.5 lb. steamed lobster, with asparagus on the side, and both arrived piping hot and super tasty. There was a short by workable wine list, too.
Whether you’re dining with friends, family, or solo (as I was), Jameson is just a comfy place with super friendly staff – kind of like a Cheers, for lobster (and other dishes)! My only beef would be about the price -- $35.99 for a steamed 1.5 lb lobster is a bit steep, particularly for this area. Not sure where you can get it less expensive in Freeport, though.
